Better than losing to a 8-6 cal team who was terrible that year. Plus usc didn’t have to take a chance of losing cause they didn’t have a conference title game like OU did. If OU had the same arrangement USC did they wouldn’t have played K state in a title game.

USC loss was worse because they lost to a bad team who was 2-3 before they played USC. Plus USC didn’t play that extra game which is a conference game.

OU making this was a big a joke as Nebraska making it two years earlier after losing to Colorado 62-36. FSU getting in over Miami in 2000 was ridiculous as well. The BCS was really weird those first few years.

Brent Musburger was calling that game - after he said it wasn't the legitimate championship game. Oklahoma didn't belong in it after losing the big 12 championship game 35-7 to KSU. It should have been LSU-USC. One thing is for sure - LSU belonged there either way.

@@phillipmain9144 OU should have been banned from BCS games for a few years after the LSU and USC performances. LSU held this supposedly insanely high scoring offense to 154 total yards. The severely overrated Jason White finished the game completing only 13 of his 37 passing attempts for just 102 yards. He was also sacked seven times and intercepted twice. The game wasn't nearly as close as the score says. OU looked super exposed and made the Big 12 look very weak. It was even worse the following year against USC.
