Great vid, being a resident of North Devon, I find it amazing that the line to Ilfracombe was closed given the decline of Ilfracombe and the traffic issues in the summer!

Starting long trains out of Ilfracombe up a 1 in 36 gradient must have been a formidable challenge for steam locomotives. I also lament the closure of this line - it was an important link.

Good work the reason for closing this line remains a mystery considering the Gunnislake and Looe branches were kept open

It would come down to the road network and wether suitable for buses.

Yes it's crazy when you look at it now. Of all the stations north of Exeter, after Barnstaple it is Braunton and Ilfracombe that are by far the biggest towns. The line would be twice as busy if it still served them now.
