First off, this whole production quality is better than anything on TV, scene cut away, attention to detail and actual advise instead of glorified sales of the aftermarket stuff. Feels like I’m a kid watching the truck shows on Saturday mornings 😂. Did anyone else try the upgrade? How’s it feel

I completely agree with the “Permatex” brand anti-seize on the aluminum body for adjustment but, the Torrington bearing will suffer less unless using a High Temp PTFE brake grease from ACDelco, simply because it is clear and not blue! The anti-seize compound has metals of copper, aluminum or zinc in high temp applications. For a bearing, just plain grease is best. Use wheel bearing grease if needed, the adjusting nut needs an anti-seize for galvanic action of dissimilar metals so it can be adjusted or serviced. DK. ASE Master Tech since 78, retired.

Wow Matt, by far the best “to do” video I’ve ever seen on KZbin. You’re clear about everything, especially the small details we will need doing this. But also, you’re not robotic or trying to act like a movie star when you speaking. I feel like I’m hanging out with my brother again working on a car.

just a quick tip, you use a brass punch and hammer to tighten the lock ring up on coilovers. Spanners alone dont quite get it tight enough. Can vibrate loose after a while. That extra shock from hammering them help them to bite into the adjustment ring and lock it in place. Loving the build so far though. Been tossing around the idea of either SAS or coilover swap my 03 2500HD.

Need to make a video of the dual battery setup for when you run off-road lights.
@rickw4160

Nobody needs dual batteries for running lights anymore. They all LEDs. Just for winches. And fridges.
@rickw4160
@rickw4160 2 жыл бұрын
I'm saying that new led lights use significantly less power than incandescent. 42" triple row light bars are like 600w. Old hella Incandescent we're often 100w each. Regular headlights are like 35-55w. A 65a alternator will easily put up with that. Your in Montana and obviously crazier winters. But your fan mostly isn't running if it's that cold. If you have a high compression motor that's when you need big battery reserves to crank it over.

@@lalogonzalez2467 they will too fail quickly upside down, ask any shock or damper manufacturer as to why they have an install direction and why there is specific shocks for horizontal loads. The oil will pool at the seal and will eventually leak out causing them to fail. This is well documented and a very well known obstical to designing suspension systems that anybody with a basic understanding of how shocks work would be able to tell you.

What coilspring lbs rate did you end up with? 650 700 & 750lbs have all been suggested to me? Plan to order the same line of Vikings front coilover shocks you did 19” is there longest option I have 21&3/4” from bolt to bolt sitting level. Think that’s cutting it close on up or down travel limits? 02 Z71 6”susp lift I’ bought new in 02 only 107k I’ve done lots of $ in upgrades over the yrs & more to come especially after funding this channel live it!!!

On the rear. Could you not have gotten longer shocks instead of using the extenders? Love the vid on the front coilovers. I'm thinking of doing the same on my 03 Suburban. That's a trick upgrade. Gives the vehicle a nice stance. Seems chock-full of engineering compromises though. Particularly the upper mount where the two bolts that pass through the frame are literally right next to each other. This requires drilling two half-inch holes through the frame in close proximity. I would have liked to have seen much heavier weld-in mounts.

I've had my AFP kit on my 05 Tahoe for a year now.....well worth the money, especially when you're lifted 10" on 35's. Cognito uppers are a game changer too.....now for some rear coilovers! Lol

Hi Matt, my name is Ernest. Love your content, keep it up! I have a 07 suburban ltz on a 6ish rough country lift still with tortion bars. I can't find any info for the tortion delete kit you used on the tahoe. Also do you keep the lowers? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks brotha!
