His actions were heroic, but I’m a bit annoyed that his earning the Medal of Honor prevented Major Richard Winters from receiving the one he deserved.

Pvt Joe Mann. 101st Airborne. He was the only other recipient of the Medal if Honor in the 101st in WW2. I believe he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in Operation Market-Garden. Though it may have been the battle of the bulge. Just something to think about.

@@TheAKgunner Yes. I don't quite understand why he didn't receive one. He should have.

@@davidsappington4415 I agree.

Thank you for making this video. Lieutenant Colonel Cole is one of my World War 2 heros. I first learned of LTC Cole from the video game Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30. He was among the many factors that made me want to join the military. That was impossible for me to do, due to health issues. I want to thank the Premier History channel for making this video and keeping the memory of LTC Cole, and so many others, alive. And for being an awesome channel all around. Keep up the good work!

Oh it's "that" Cole! Amazing! I played through the series so many times and never knew he was based on an actual person

Just a note. Lt. Col Robert Cole's second in command was Maj John P. Stopka. He wasn't called Joe. He died in Luxembourg in 1945 with the rank of Lt.Col. For his action in the bayonet charge he received the Silver Star.

I would not want to take away from ww2 in respect of horror and gor, and there is artillery action in this attack, but compared to the brain jerking artillery while stuck in a trench, nothing comes close.

Good story about some great men. However, your video is difficult to follow.

Now, our pathetic Military would throw the bayonets!
