Lt. Dans arc is so real to me. Even before I knew it. My back problems put a stop to my gym bodybuilding passion. I was great, now I'm just average. Gotten a bit overweight. Have bad sleep due to inflammation and pain (before I slept like a baby). And overall felt like shit for 1.5 years. I really wanted to end it all. I had no love interests, no passions, except gym through my 17-22 yo. Now I'm 24 and went through all stages of 5 stages of grief (you may find it laughable, but if you have one strong passion in life, and suddenly ripped off of it, you'll understand. I got up at 5 am to go to the gym. I was doing it 6 times a week.). And just like Lt. Dan I've come to terms with it. And it feels like I found another passion in life - programming. I loved maths in school and Uni, and always liked logical stuff. Programming is what I do all of my free time. Sure I can't do bodybuilding anymore. But life moves on. As did Lt. Dan. As did I. If you feel like shit, and want to take the final decision - trust me. You always can do it, just say: I can always do it tomorrow. And tomorrow say the same. Move day by day. Week by week. Seek passion. And you'll prevail.

This movie don't have the depth of Kubrick, the charisma of Scorsese or the vision like Nolan. Yet it touches our raw emotions with its sheer simplicity and storytelling. It is like your mom is telling a fairytale while the child you is half asleep dreaming about the story. Its marvellous.

Did you really just put Nolan in the same group as Kubrick and Scorsese?
@rajdeepnath16334 жыл бұрын
@@entertainme7523 Nolan is one of the greatest of our times, just like Kubrick, Hitchcock, Scorsese of their times. Drawing comparison as to who is best is a vain exercise at best brother. People say Oh but Nolan is too stuck with one theme. So was Scorsese, with his mob and crime drama theme.

Lt Dan is not the only or best character development in the movie, Jenny’s growth and overcome of abuse and trauma is one of the most beautiful and tragic things the movie offers

Lt Dan recovered and kept leading and helping and protecting his soldier Forrest as time went on. "He got me involved with some fruit company, and we don't gotta worry about money no more..." Thanks LT Dan for leading.

When I saw 'Lt. Dan' swing his legs around to go into the water, I actually wondered if Gary Sinise was missing his lower legs! That was superb special effects! 😍😍 Later watching KZbin videos on the making of "Forrest Gump", I realized that was just one of many awesome special effects!

Since the whole movie was the resemblence of modern American history, what happened to Lieutenant Dan was the resemblence of Vietnam trauma over Americans. A guy that comes from a family history of fighting with victories, he was furious not only losing his legs but not having a chance to die. While it was seen that he was blaming Forrest because he saved him, he was also blaming himself inside for the defeat. The whole depression process evolved later into being angry to life at all until it ended with the ship scene. It was really satisfying to see a good ending for Dan, having a peace finally.

Lt. Dan is a fine story arch to follow because he teaches about redemption for the imperfect, which is all of us; we're all imperfect. We all get angry and say things in a mean spirit. If we can find the people who look past that, we can get out of the pits we place ourselves in to.
