PLA is backed by far better funds and a very healthy economy. But, India does have the backing of the US - there is a statement from DefSec Esper. Cost is not an issue, because there can be no development without a very stable border. So, it is better for India to invest in a stable border and for the immediate future to reduce development expectations. Next, we need to define "win". We think even if IA deprives PLA from achieving PLA's goals, that is a win for the IA/India. A defensive effort is good enough. China will have to escalate if they want to achieve their goals. And, that will have a different result set. Finally, there is an international uprising against China. MEA, instead of taking advantage of the situation, goes about with their silly "India way". Heck "India way" has got India into the present predicament. And Lt. Gen is right, that Gen Rawat is a waste, like so many other things. Modi needs to stabilize the economy. Nal se jal will not do. That is silly. Become a manufacturing juggernaut first. Build a world-class military-industrial complex (MIC) - for that read how the US did it in 4 years in the book "Freedom's Forge".

Fundamental assumptions are wrong: .1 That China can be trusted and will keep their word . This is false as precedents have shown prior and since 1962. 2. That The Army is there to not fight but to just react to Chinese moves and India is ready to accept losses as a result. 3.That India should not put forward to Chinese our National objectives due to fear that chinese may respond severely. How will Chinese react?? India is Not mentioning the Return of Akshay chin and all captured territory, the recognition of POK as Indian land and not build roads cpec etc. 4. That India should Not State at every `diplomatic meeting that Arunachal n Sikkim n ladakh are Indian land and there is No Compromise on that. 5. That Talking to china will get you back your land. ...6. That Tibet is chinese. 7. Gandhism is the solution ...when really Gandhi sacrificed millions of Indian lives .

Don't entirely agree with you sir...Indian Army hierarchy is politicised and encline to the present Govt. View....I think with your own kind of experience..you're having this kind of view..Indian Army is highly respected and professional force to reckon with in world arena..... To subscribe to your point of view we need more evidence on your point of view to proof this
