I was thinking that hammering the windings with a hammer can weaken the insulation in parts and cause short circuits in the transformer during operation.

I wanted to say the same, no one has told them to hammer copper conductors using a metal instrument is totally idiotic, one should use rubber mallet or wooden mallet, do these people not think that striking with metal can damage insulation and weaken the transformer winding and life, that is why someone on here said these transformers must not be exported, they must stay in india.
