Mr. Trocha I absolutely love this German Martingale and have watched your video a number of times to make sure I was using it correctly. However I have accidentally lost the string piece with the clips. Before I go buy another whole set I was going to attempt to make a replacement string set. Could you please tell me how long that string is? Thank you in advance for any help.

Each length of rope is 32 inches which includes the snap.

@@ltrocha thank you so much for taking time to reply. I had just scoured our dirt arena again and Eureka I found the piece of string with the clips. Had almost given up...scooted my foot and there it laid. I think I'm going to go ahead and make a replacement piece just in case. I sure appreciate your help. And it is your video that has given me the confidence to use this aid. It has really changed how my horse carries her head. It feels very light and manageable. A million thank yous.

Larry do you use a cavason if they gap at the mouth with a German martingale or do you just buy the horse up more getting them use to the pressure ?

Hi Tom, rarely do I use a cavason. When a horse gaps, it's usually because he isn't supple enough or light enough. Of course, there is always the possibility somebody has ruined the horse's mouth by mishandling the bit.

Hi. I have a three year old quarter horse gelding that drags his back feet in the walk and trot and is very lazy with them while cantering. What would be your idea on how to get him to lift them up. I've tried giving him food for energy but he just jumps about but still drags his feet. He has done it his whole life since he was a foal and I have no idea what to do

Hi Horse, girl. You need to teach your horse to be light and supple. Then he'll be a much better ride.
