Something that really speaks to me is the look on his face during training and at the start of the lifts. You can see the uncertainty in his eyes. It's that reassurance that no matter who you are pushing yourself to and beyond your limits will make you give a grimace. Afterwards we smile but that face of confronting your own mortality is the great equalizer.

Out of interest, what is the general consensus opinion on whether he'll even make the 2024 Olympics team? From what I understand he's aiming for the 73kg division, but is he really going to be able to beat out Shi Zhiyong at this age? Or is China going to be able to send multiple athletes per division or something? Will be interesting if Chen Lijun also moves up in weight.
@AaronLim22 жыл бұрын
As much as I like Lu, its really unlikely that he’ll be able to make the team. He could probably do 165 / 195 as a 73 but Shi has done 170 / 198 (albeit in separate comps) and could very well hit both those numbers in the same comp if someone’s there to push him. If Lu decides to move to 89, who knows what he could hit, 177 / 180 snatch maybe? 212 / 215 C&J perhaps. But Tian could very easily C&J 220, maybe even 225 if he doesn’t bomb out lol. Either way, unless Shi and Tian suffer career-ending injuries in the lead up to Paris, I think Lu would have a very hard time out-lifting his teammates
