Sadly I agree, I don’t think she’ll return in a voiced role. I hope we’re wrong though! I think the most likely option would be Max possibly returning with Norman, and then giving an update on May’s progress - maybe showing some flashback too. I respect the culture/tradition of not replacing VA’s in Japan but it’s still a shame because May really does deserve to return!

To Be Honest, I am pretty sure that May should've already reappeared in the XYZ series and Mega evolution specials as those were the days when they were promoting the Mega Evolution mechanic from the Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire games and they were surely planning to bring back May like they brought Lyra & other Johto references in the anime when they released the Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver games. Of course, in the anime & Mega evolution Specials, they did revisited Hoenn region, brought back Steven Stone, introduced a new rival from Hoenn region (Sawyer) with a Hoenn starter (Treecko), mentioned about the Giant Rock with Primal powers from Hoenn, showed the fight between Primal Groudon & Primal Kyogre, gave every generation 3 Starter Pokémon & Rayquaza a Mega evolution each. In fact, I thought that this could be the return of Team Neo-Magma (with Maxie) and Team Neo-Aqua (with Archie) (because they weren't disbanded or imprisoned the last time we saw them) who would've somehow allied with each other this time to reawaken Primal Groudon & Primal Kyogre with the help of the Giant Rock but were stopped by Steven, Alain and Lysandre with Team Flare (so that they could use the Giant Rock for their own evil plans), May could've a great role in the Pokémon showcases as Serena's biggest rival, but just because of the VA's voice problem, they didn't do so, I truly am sad to know that, & I'd already lost all the hopes of her return but now that the Journeys series was bringing back all the known old characters, it somehow just brought some of my confidence back but after the return of all the Pokégirls till now in the anime Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon (Misty's return) & Journeys (Lana, Mallow, Lillie, Iris & Dawn reappeared), & after watching your video, I just lost my confidence again. I still remember when I first saw her & I was too excited about watching a new Pokégirl's character development (other than Misty at that time). But yeah, this is how it is I guess, 😔😔 ☮️☮️ Peace Out ☮️☮️.

I have this idea. What if they have May indicted by this condition where she is unable to talk. She has to communicate with her pokemon through a whistle code. Also an interesting story. What if something happens to her parents. And she is forced to take the mantle of gym leader since that gym is their bread and butter.

I do think with one point she will return someday on one of three conditions one they found a cure for her voice condition (most likely) the voice actress decides it’s OK to let or three she passes then it’s OK to bring her back. I just have trouble believing they won’t bring her back at least for one episode for some closure. It’s gonna have to be in Horizon probably but it’ll happen one day I think.

@@samdickenson5852 Simple. It's because Japan actually respects their voice actors more than America, and a lot of times, they keep voice actors till they die. However, in the event that the VA retires, in Japan they either replace them with another VA or the character gets retired. Japan will always be loyal to their voice actors, which is why none of the VAs ever got replaced in anime like "Pokemon". Even Ash's original Japanese VA, Rico Matsumoto who has voiced him since the first episode in 1997, is still voicing him to this day.

I was thinking about what might happen in the next series. It starts when ash, after an injury of a great disaster, was taken by Hoho to his nest to recover. Since then, his friends have been searching for the nest. Years later May's brother Max is old enough to start his pokemon journey. May is sending to a new region (because there are leads to Hoho's nest) with an escort, which happens to be Sarena.

I just had this idea of why her parents wanted max to tag along with her. Parents revenge. My guess that May's parents started their relationship almost like Ash and Sarena. Two lovers doing their pokemon journey together. Then they had May. There took her on their journey, but as their family situation was... changing, it was time to have a permanent dwelling. They let her have max to show them how they felt during their last moments of their pokemon journey.
