It's funny how we all think/thought the song was about a lost love (romantic). The song is actually about the loss of her father who died when she was 20. But that is what is great about music, we all interrupt or relate lyrics in our own way.

Luba was a power house of a voice all over the charts in Canada in the 1980s.Soulful and raspy. "Let it go" was another great one.

"Let It Go" "How Many (rivers to cross) were some of her biggest hits here in Canada as well as Calm before The Storm, but Little Salvation is a good one too.

Let It Go is such a timeless song that is even more relevant now than in the 80s, and Clam Before The Storm (aka the USA/USSR nuclear blowout) is a little more chilling when billions are being thrown into a hot war from both sides. We haven't learned anything in 40 years... Guess we will be seeing the 99 Luftballoons after all...

Absolutely adore Luba. Please listen and review “No More Words” by her. I had no idea this song was about her deceased Dad. Always thought it was about a lost lover. Grew up in Canada listening to Luba and she still rocks!!

What a powerhouse vocalist she was (I don't know if she still performs). Had the pleasure of seeing her in concert in her prime.

New to me! The 🎨 artist and song! Per the comments, I know what the song is about! Very deep ☺️ and 😢 sad! We will see our loved ones again one day, as I've said many times! Goodbye!

She had two albums full of great songs. Secrets and Sins was produced by Daniel Lanois before he became known for working with artists like U2. On this album I think you could put Let it Go or Storm Before the Calm in your playlist, Storm is my personal fave. Do you have High School Confidential by Rough Trade with the great Carol Pope on your list of 80’s ladies?

This hit #23 on the Canadian charts in 1983. Luba was never able to break into the U.S., but she hit #6 in Canada with her cover of "When a Man Loves a Woman" in 1987, and #9 with "Giving Away a Miracle" in 1989. My favourite: "No More Words", #33 in 1990. She has an incredible voice -- thanks so much for reacting to this!

Luba was a domestic artist in Canada, her management made an attempt in late 1988 to get her a distribution deal and get her music across the border. Her personal and family problems took over her life in the early 90s and she basically step away. She was great artist and singer, never disappointed live.

She was so popular hare, it's amazing she didn't cross the border. Then she disappeared like tears in the rain.

@@murraysmither7996 I guess they spent a lot on production of that attempted u.s. breakthrough and when it didn't sell well they dropped her from the label which really sucks for support of an artist. She deserved better as I loved her voice and could have continued to have hits in Canada but she couldn't get another label to sign her. At least bands like Blue Rodeo and The Tragically Hip later showed that artists could have solid careers in Canada without needing to crack the American market.
