This video saved me after I took my throttle housing apart to upgrade my handle bars and was trying to figure out how to put it back together. Yep i'm a noob!

Thank you so much for the detailed put-together. This gives me the courage to actually do it, my throttle on the 2013 Kawasaki Z800 I just bought is sticky as hell. Edit: I just got back inside after doing it. It was really dirty. Now it snaps back like new, thank you again!

The play in the throttle (in my 2001 GsxR case) need to be there because the cable take a little bit of tension when you turn the handle fully on right and loosing it in left so, there must be like 4 mm of play, but very well done video, clear to understand!

Nice. Adjusted the throttle cable and neglected the return. To adjust you really need to look at the throttle bodie cable ends. Adjust the return cable first. You want a tad of slack at full lock both ways. You set the return top cable tension (at throttle bodies) to slacken off a tad when throttle fully returned. Adjust the throttle cable the same. I like minimal slack. Makes for a smoother, non jerky ride as I am never searching for the on part of the throttle. In 40 years I dont think I have ever bumped the throttle. Each one to there own.

What if you have 0 play after doing this process? Very very helpful by the way!
@SimpleSimon4 ай бұрын
You need to adjust it to have a little play, you may need to adjust it at the throttle bodies. Thanks for watching!!

How often should you lubricator the throttle and clutch cables?
@SimpleSimon3 жыл бұрын
at least once a year, if your bike sits in the rain or you ride in the rain you should do it more often. Thanks for watching.

I intend to do all the maintenance jobs on my z900 myself, but i have no idea about the tools that would be required for the Job. I would be really grateful if you can make a video about the tools. needed.

I'm not understanding the need for that little cable tool. Why not just use the straw to spray lube in the cable housing?

That may work it just sprays everywhere. Thanks for watching!!

What cable grease do you use? Not the lube but the grease.

I use Synthetic Bearing grease. Thanks for watching

How often do you recommend lubing your throttle and clutch cables ? ... lets say on a brand new bike .. each year .. two years ? ...
@SimpleSimon5 жыл бұрын
The Z900 manual suggest at 1,000 miles to adjust and at 7,500 miles to adjust I would lube them also. Now if you do alot of rain riding or you store your bike outside I would lube at least once a year. Any time the throttle feels sticky or slow to return I would lube at that time also.

Hello, what type of lube did you use to apply on the ball/tip of cable? Just a general grease or a specific moto grease? Thank you?

I used Synthetic bearing grease you could also use lithium grease or silicone grease. Thanks for watching don't forget to subscribe.

Nice, thanks. Btw why are there 2 throttle cables there? (cwl)
@SimpleSimon3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pokemon17007 great question, the second cable is the throttle return cable. It is a safety cable incase your throttle doesn't snap back you can force it closed. Thanks for watching.

I just cannot get this to work no matter what I do. I do not have nearly as much slack as you do. Everything is so tight that I can’t complete this and put the throttle back together

@@SimpleSimon No problem, I ended up leaving it with a shop. They replaced the cable with something different. works well now.
