I added the tap mod and foam from the package underneath, as well as add little foam pieces between the screws were no grounding pads were and it sound very quiet now! Tipp for anyone doing the tap mod, take care to leave gaps at the edges because the housing still has to have space.

wow thats real good editing. And sounds all very plausible for lubing a keyboard for the first time. Good job

@@JDrive I just bought lube and I'll try it tomorrow then😅. So what did you do to lube the other stabalizers that aren't mx style?

@@JDrive Ok. So did you also do some other mods like putting foam inside? Or is there not enough space in the keyboard because it is version 2 and has that steelplate inside?

Thanks for this post. I decided I do not need to go through all that just for a slight change in sound. Yes it’s satisfying but I ain’t gonna do all that work for it.

It is extremely important to note that this method is relevant for the most part specifically for linear switches. Tactile and clicky switches have a small spring that creates that same tactile response. When disassembled, it falls out, which is why the tactile switch turns into a linear switch. It can, of course, be installed, but this is not so easy to do because of its small size. so if you lubricate your tactile or clicky switches, think carefully about whether you need it

Thanks for this, thinking about trying out lubing my K3 for the first time. Did you feel the typing experience get smoother with the lube? I have optical brown switches and the keypress feels a little bit grainy and not smooth to me

I lubed my K3 with switches with a 1:1 mixture of Super Lube Oil and Super Lube Grease and it feels and sounds so much better now. Before, I found it quite scratchy as well. So definitely worth a try.

14:51 the difference more thick here... sounds good. I owned a red switch k3v2 optical, and don't you feel it's worth to lube this switch? I have a plan for using more heavier ones like black... or banana. I haven't even try mecha before, so I don't know how good typing in tactile switch.. whether brown or early bumps the good choice for me.. it seems I need to try buy a small portion of the switch first to decide, since I cannot differentiate the sound or feeling when watching the other people videos.. Btw, what is your daily use keyboard before using this k3? it seems you type so aggresively, LOL. Thank You for the videos, awesome~

Well, ever since i got myself the Nuphy Air 75 keyboard, I have been using that more often. The Keychron K3 i normally bring it along with on the go instead. I use magic keyboard right before owning my Kyechron K3V2, but i gues it’s in my nature, my wife also told me that I’m an aggresive typer. (been trying to tone down a lot more now) but ya.. that’s one of the reason why I decided to lube all the mechanical keyboards I own 😅 As for the switches, i agree that it’s kindda tricky just by watching and listening it from videos, it really comes down to trying it in person so you get the feel of it.

Hey, I did the whole 9 yeards on my K3 V2 with optical reds and the tap mod and foam undernath will do more for the sound than the lube. I would only lube switches that are scratchy or pingy and the stabs.

It's pretty hectic if it's brown..the small spring that can give the tactile feedback is fricking hard to set it back up once u open the switch housing...urghhh....i don't know know what to do..might as well just spray lube

if properly applied, a good time. There's no definite time but it should last 5-10 yrs.

does it use standard size stabilizers or is it smaller?

on Keychrons website they exclude their own stabs from the low profile keyboards so i would say no.

The lubing still last till now. Not sure for how long, but am guessing its gonna stay for quite sometime. I have been using the lubed black switch every since for typing, cause its quiter and i like the typing feel. I'm in a process of doing a full review for nuphy air 75 and will also update and do another typing comparison of the stock switch from Nuphy as well as the keychron, long with this lubed black switch. Make sure to check it out

I did it all and when reassembling I damage the on/off switch (black little switch) and now the keyboard is unusable... On another K3 I lubed the reds and loooove them. Now trying the brown lubed.
