I can see them practicing / training and occasionally when they are working a fire close to where I live. Definitely real. Definitely a talented team of pilots (led by equally talented bird-dog who doesn't come down to reload). When there's no visible smoke in the sky they're either practicing or the fire is a long ways off.

As a real pilot, that wasn’t a ‘late pull up’, that was a approach that was too fast. When he did pull back he had too much lift due to speed and did what we call ‘in the trade’ a balloon.
