Absolutely loved it! I thought well this sure isn't three minutes of aviation😂 I can see maybe the only problem is choosing a favourite which is fairly easy with 3-min but on this occasion, while there were a few in the running, I prolly enjoyed the Skiathos go-around one fairly early in the vid the most albeit for a slightly weird reason - I liked seeing it leave a trail of "coal" (although not "rolling coal"😂) - a sort of filthy acidic diesel-y brown haze after the PF flicks the TOGA switch which I think delivers like 106% of max thrust so one imagines that whatever are the jet equivalent of the triple twin choke carburetors are shovelling in the jungle juice like billy-o😂😂❤❤

Damn - That A380 go-around probably used more fuel ...than I use in one year instructing on C172s, Seminoles, and PA28s :) Even the 50 pax CJR I flew was a real fuel hog under 10K-- So, would love to hear from a A380 pilot - What's the fuel burn at low flight levels, and an estimate for a this go around?

The late gear retraction seems to be a common thing these days with quick turn arounds the brakes are still warm so they usually take off, fly at 180kts for 5-10nm @ 4000ft then retract when the temps are lower. Quite regularly see it at EGCC.

I rather enjoy the longer episodes. When a plane makes an emergency landing without flaps, what do the passengers know? Are they in crash positions? Or just seatbacks and tray tables in their upright position?
@HolySoliDeoGloria27 күн бұрын
A no-flap landing is actually easier to execute than a full-flap (or whatever the normal flap setting is for a particular situation) landing. The only real hazard is the greater landing distance. If the runway is long enough, then there's no real problem. A shorter runway will necessitate more braking, so hot brakes could be a concern. But the landing itself is not inherently hazardous. I don't know how different airlines' policies dictate what the passengers are told. I'd suspect that most would either not say anything or say that a minor problem required a different landing procedure, but that it wasn't a concern.

New Zealand citizen here. That amphibian landing on snow happened in the province of Central Otago, near where I live. It was all over the local facebook pages for a while. Audacious, yes, but ski planes and snow landings in our Southern Alps are routine - we have a similar situation as Alaska; glacier landings all the time.

@Ice_Karma28 күн бұрын
7:21 Neat. The registration code indicates the plane is registered in New Zealand, and I reckon that in spite of the snow, this video was probably recorded there too. Some parts of the South Island, and higher-elevation parts of the North Island, get snow, of course, but it's still not something you'd typically associate with New Zealand -- I don't, and I even lived there for several years! 😸

Planes don't immediately retract gears normally because the brakes are still hot and they are just cooling them down before retracting.
