We can feel the emotion in his performance and the music texture itself. Not about technique, not about theory, but about spirit.

I just saw Lucas play this as an encore at his Carnegie recital tonight. He played it quite a bit faster and more intensely than he does here - fantastic toccata and even better musician!!!

This is hilarious. I was there too, and came here precisely looking for this. The encore was electric! Tammy

Nice piece, he played it as an encore with such a passion and musicality that everyone loved it. For each piece, every performance, you can feel he goes all the way and you can literally go with him - looking for the music, feeling pure joy. That makes his recitals so amazing. But still.. This impression comes from him, doing his thing and enchanting everyone. When it comes to the toccata, I feel like there wouldn't be much of an effect if played by another pianist.

Wow, so amazing that People compose in a "classical style" again (which sounds a bit weird to call it "classic"), but at least not as some modern Music without context in the Music. Also so much Passion, virtuosity in the Music; a concert develops from a simplicity and comes back to it! My worship!

I would say 2nd wave of neoclassical music or neoromantic/neoposromantic classical music

I love the usage of the theme. At the beginning and the end it also kind of sounds like Lucas Sébastien Debach, if you know what I mean.

Wow, there some comments here that are really full of sh*t! Love the piece, with all the "imperfections' and the "borrowed" style, keep composing!

A mixture of Medtner and Prokofiev. A bit impersonal perhaps, not really a well-defined style of his own yet but a lot of lending from someone else's. Also the sections are not connected appropriately, of course in a toccata one expects an improvisatory style but there are all too abrupt cuts between the different sections of the work and the transition should be worked out a bit more carefully. Transitions are the most difficult points in a composition, though... Nice try nevertheless: this guy is intelligent and talented. However, he needs to focus on one thing: becoming a great concert pianist is more than enough, it seems to me.
