Such a great piece of music! Such great artistry! And I am probably the only one who will say how much I appreciate him wearing a tux with tails and white vest and white bow tie for a change! I'm so tired of men walking out on stage wearing a black shirt unbuttoned at the neck! I find it disrespectful not only to the tradition, but also to the music and the composer, to whom they owe more gratitude! I just love dressing up. I'm old! I'm not a big fan of modern changes! Rant over! Very well done Maestro Lugansky!
@spicy7302Ай бұрын
Composers owe gratitude to interpreters too, because their music would never be heard without the musician playing it. So, stop acting like composers are gods and stop promoting ancient dogmas. The music matters, not the clothing or the appearance. If anything, classical music is dead because of people like you.

All 4 of the Ballades are pieces I couldn't live without. The F minor might be the best of the bunch. I'm not crazy about this performance. He has all the chops for sure. I loved to opening measures but he kind of manhandles this piece with a way to high dynamic level throughout. He doesn't have to play it this fast either. Granted, it's easy to get carried away. It's so much more effective to vary the dynamics from ppp to fff and all in between. It's just my personal taste in piano artistry. Actually I heard Lugansky play this 25 years ago and it was wonderful. Much more to my taste. Regardless, thank you for putting this up.

Should be a FRSM piece not a LRSM, yet Lugansky had complete control on such difficult piece… Just purely sensational, he made it look so easy and played it with more musicality than any of the other pianist I’ve ever heard of (probably even better than Zimerman in my opinion). He’s now not only the owner of the Musicaux moments but the master of the Chopin Ballades as well 👏

8:55-9:00, how did he manage to bring out the melody so much? Can some one please tell me what should I do to allow my right hand to flow smoothly like that but let the surplus notes on my right hand disappear naturally.
@jeremydepp39702 жыл бұрын
Exaggerating the melody notes while playing the other. Playing the whole section slowly. That is what helped me. Also, I found after playing a note with your pinky, when you go to play a note with your 2nd or third, its easy for your pinky to naturally raise up. I believe there is an excercise for keeping your hand relaxed and keeping your pinky and fourth finger from raising up when your are playing from your third or 2nd finger. Hopefully this makes sense. I recommend you try looking for videos or tutorials on technique from Josh Wright KZbin. He has a masterclass on this piece that you do have to pay for. He covers the section you are asking about and has really great piano tips for practicing.

Luganski certainly has the technique to express what this superhuman composition is saying to the universe... Chopin was French on his father’s side, and he spent more than half his life - 20 years- in Paris. So some consider him FRENCH: Some say that if you offered Chopin a ticket to go to Poland, he would given back to you. I wonder why.
