Have used it in the past on toyota celicas when they started slipping and not wanting to shift from 1 to 2nd gear. After about 3 weeks after adding it fixed it and shifts fine now. My main seal on the inside between engine and transmission has been on there for I think 3 decades 92 celica and slowly leaks but just recently went from slow leak to major leak were use up fluid in few days so had to pull transmission down and replace. The old seal was completely hardened. Before replacing I considered using more lucas until it softened up but it probably would have been 2 much for the other seals. I think if the seal wasn't so old the lucas would have sealed itjt up for a few extra years. So definatley is great product for getting you by or extending life of seal till you are able to put new one which if you're like me want to put off as long as possible, it's not fun taking transmissiion down, a lot of work......

This is q very good detailed video. Thank you for the informative visual description. My dad has a 05 Dodge Dakota SLT V8 with a shaking problem when going up hills at around 35-45MPH. I plan pn putting in 24oz of Lucas Transmission Fix to hopefully get more life out of the transmission. We are going to get his trucks transmission fixed at a shop but need some more time. And if the Lucas Transmission Stop-Slip fixes it for years, well I'll take it. I have a 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7L with the 545RFE 5 speed transmission and get a clunk when lightly letting off gas after a hill. But only happens sometimes. Im hoping valves are sticking and lucas will help it. Do you think it will work, which of the two is likely to be improved after 200 miles.
@MotoGPatrick Жыл бұрын
An accurate dosage, oz of lucas to oz of transfluid would be best. I used two in a 6R80 with over 200,000 miles on it. Its had fluid and filter changes, isn't making metal, no lead frame issue and had reprorgraming TSB. It wasn't really slipping just flaring like solenoids were acting slow and overlapping. It's fine but I've got a bigger pan on the trans and a giant offroad racing trans cooler on the raptor. Its a ton more fluid than the trans had stock. It's probably around 20 quarts now. If its a well worn high milelage LV trans getting ran in hot conditions its probably more than worth a shot.

Great stuff, thanks. Only question is why not advise all the listeners to check the motor's specification for the capacity of their transmission fluid. And maybe talk about a limit to the percent or portion of the Lucas to the fluid.(??) If they choose to check on their transmission, eventually what will matter is the proper fluid capacity. And work with that. And, thanks. Much to think about.
@codemansauto20822 күн бұрын
The bottle does not give a recommended dosage per quart ratio. so, I don't know what the portion should be. it says to add a bottle to your Transmission. so, the point that I am trying to make is that ford has a transmission that only holds 2 quarts and all the way up to 16 quarts. so, most transmissions hold from 9 to 16 quarts of Transmission fluid the consumer needs to be aware that too much of this like a half and half ratio could be more devastating to your Transmission than not using it at all. And I agree with you 100% there is a lot to think about

Need help. Long read ahead. I have a 1988 Honda Civic EF 1.3 automatic. I got the transmission changed in May last year because the previous transmission wasn't engaging from the 2nd gear to the 3rd gear. The new (second hand) transmission was fine then it started to show some lag when put in 'drive' (when the engine was cold). I was using the original Honda Transmission Fluid. Slowly that problem got worse and I'd have to keep the car running for about 10 minutes early in the morning and only then 'drive' will respond. I was advised by a local mechanic to change to Amsoil Transmission fluid as he mentioned it has additives and I did. A) First Amsoil Transmission fluid change. It showed improvements like the 'drive' gear engaging right after I started up the car but it would only coast in drive, stepping on the accelerator didn't have any response. I'd have to warm up the engine for maybe 3-4 minutes and would be able to drive off with no issues. I noticed with each passing week, I'd have to warm up the engine longer for the drive gear to engage. The problem came back in full swing after 3 months with newer symptoms. After warming up for about 10 minutes and driving off, the engine would have to rev up to 3k or even 4k in a very struggling manner and it would sound as though the engine has to work way harder to get from the first gear to the second gear. But once at operating temperature, the transmission works just fine and smooth but it would slip sometimes. This new symptom showed up after having driven the car for about 5k miles since the Amsoil Transmission fluid change. B) Second Amsoil Transmission fluid change. So I changed the fluid again and things got better than they were towards the end of 5k mileage of the first Amsoil fluid change. I drove another 5k miles and have another new symptom. The reverse gear won't engage when the engine is cold. So I'd have to keep the engine running for about 5 minutes for the reverse gear to engage and about 10 minutes for drive gear to engage with the current trans fluid. But, in order for first to second gear to shift smoothly, id have to run the engine for about 15 minutes (reach operating temperature). 15 minutes does the trick and the car runs just fine the whole day (absolutely smooth like a new car I'd say). But if I leave the car parked for a few hours, I'd have to run the engine for about 2-3 minutes for the gears to engage. This is the current situation I'm in. So basically I have three problems: 1) Drive gear won't engage if car isn't warmed up. 2) First gear going into second struggles a lot if not sufficiently warmed up. 3) Reverse gear won't engage if the engine is not warmed up for 5 minutes. My question is: Would Lucas Transmission Fix be effective in helping me with this issue if I were to just top it up with current Amsoil Transmission fluid? Any help that comes my way is very much appreciated. It's the only car I have and I absolutely love this car. Thank you so much.

2:01 very poor example. Your parts are apart on a table, and assembled trans with the piston and seal in the drum will not catch or “roll out”. There isn’t enough clearance. It will seal better, that’s the whole point of Lucas. I’ve run at least 2-3 bottles in full size trans with great results for years. Just sold my Cummins with 370,000 miles that survived the last three years on Lucas. My two new purchases 5.9 magnum with 216,000 and 6.5 diesel with 220,000 both got a full bottle on an already good trans to promote longevity given that I don’t know the maintenance history of them.

My sport trac had a little slip and slightly rough shift from 4th to 5th. I put a bottle of that shit in last night and brother I mean SHIT! Now it takes forever to shift from 1st to 2nd, smooth from 2nd to 3rd, rough from 3rd 4th and 4th to 5th plus 5th FEELS like it shifts to 6th gear. I have a 5 speed transmission. There is no 6th. Slipping and rough till it finally gets completely into 5th. Made mine much worse than it was so I guess it’s time for that rebuild I figured was in my future but I thought had another year maybe cause it had the original problems for more than a year before Lucas. All I can say is in my case it didn’t do shit except make it worse. I’m gonna loosen the pan and drain some out and see if it makes a difference. I’ve only driven about 20 miles so far so maybe draining some will be better. I do think it’s too full. From what I paid attention to NOTLucas but every utube PRO know it all, I put a whole bottle in without draining any. BIG mistake. Level is high. No drain plug. Gotta loosen the pan or use a pump or sucker from the stick/fill tube. I ruined a pump. Wasn’t made for liquids but I didn’t need it so I tried. Got maybe a shot glass full out before it quit. So I did nothing but ruin that pump, get fluid on the floor, and ruinate the transmission. I’m ROYALLY DANGED for sure. Oh well the wife’s outta town for a few days, I’ll just drive her G-37. It’s more fun than a sport trac anyway. And I KEEP it well maintained. Hard not to drive the shit out of it cause it’s pretty quick and good top end 155+) but I promised her I wouldn’t race it. 😂

You really need to know what fluid is in your Honda before you add this to your Transmission. But yes if you do add some make sure its a little at a time.

This is now my toy car. I have a 20 year old mercedes with 350K miles with an original transmission. Now I get an incorrect gear ration light with occasional slippage and it doesn't always shift until after I let the car warm up for awhile. I didn't change the transmission fluid since forever. Shops say just don't do it at this point. NO guarantees, but "might" this stuff help anything? I've been afraid to loosen up anything in there. I'm also not going to spend $3K+ on a transmission.

I can't recommend this product to anyone I try to make these videos on products more as a (USE CAUTION) than a recommendation and honestly you can ask 5 people how they liked using LUCAS and you will get 5 different answers. So sorry I can't be more helpful

So I haven’t had an issue with the transmission slipping per se, but when I’m driving the rpm’s will go up but it struggles to get to 40mph. You think I should give this a shot?

Would not recommend didn't work in fact it would not move out of its tracks.before used it would go.

I am not recommending it in this video. I am raising caution for those who do use it on what it does to your seals and also that there is no recommended dose per quart of fluid. Thanks for your comment.
