Kirk has dodgy moments, but I think for Tallica no one has complemented Hetfields killer rhythm work better than Kirk has. Is he the best guitarist, no. But he's the best guitarist for Metallica.

Its not the notes or the scales or the theories that make marty unique it's his damn playing.... I know most of those notes having researched on my own but m really far from understanding how he creates what he does within that notes... It's in him man... A master musician salute

He doesn't pre-learn, or pre-practise scales, he just plays, and then "accidentally" "uses" scales. He concentrates on harmonies and important notes more, and often breaks scales.

I learned the pentatonic at least 20 years ago but for some reason its a brand new scale when Marty teaches it to you lol.. I literally watched the whole video and payed close attention hahahaha.. you rock Marty!

I'm sure Marty knows this by now, but the first scale shown that he calls the "blues scale" is not the blues scale. It is the pentatonic scale. The blues scale contains one additional note (the flatted 5th.)

Of course he knew that...he said so. He's basically like "This is the basic blues scale (I like to call it). Some people call it a box, some people call it pentatonic, it sounds like blues, so that's what I refer to it as". Later he adds in the blue notes. And presents the "basic blues scale 2" (he likes to call it).

To be precise, it is the minor pentatonic scale, different from the major pentatonic scale that's more common in Country.

I think going back and working on very basic moves and techniques is extremely effective no matter what skill level you’re playing at. I always find the guys who “don’t practice” to be the most stale.

he just uses so many scales you don't recognize them. Marty is known for not keeping one or even two constant scales for a single song.

What he calls basic blues scale 2 is beither pentatonic scale nor blues scale lots of comment correcting this and all of them are wrong-here what happend except the A string on which he plays notes from the blues scale on other strings he plays what would you get if you overlap A major and A minor pentatonics🤔so yeah he really fucks things up here but if you dig more into blues you find that blues greats were switching from minor to major and even combining them!

Well, technically the pentatonic doesn't have the "blue note". Adding the flat 5th makes it a hexatonic scale.

Marty, sure you hate the Major scale, but Minor scale alone is boring as hell... You can combine both Major and Blues scale(as long as it is within the skeletal framework) it just adds character to the solos. You can't rely on the Minor scale alone on melodic passages.
