Lucerne, Switzerland is one of the world's most attractive towns, on a beautiful lake with tall mountains in the distance. We take you on a sunrise walk by the river watching swans glide by, then have a look at the farmers' produce market along the river, and antique sale.

Then we walk through the new side of town, with chocolate shops, busy urban neighborhoods, and popular restaurants. There are some good hotels in that section but later we take you to our favorite, the Hotel des Balances, right on the river. You've got to see the
Lion Monument and shop for souvenirs. Lucerne has the largest transportation museum in Switzerland, along the lake just 2 miles from town, with old trains, planes, cars and boats. Then we have a great meal at the Old Swiss House, and some traditional Swiss music and dance at the Stadtkeller, the best show in town.

Dav1d C I agree with you, he is my Rick Steve, his Switzerland videos are incredible, we are planning to visit interlaken and Lucerne next April ( if the corona virus situation allows) and I am watching these videos for tips, in any case his videos are a joy to watch.

Yes indeed. While Steeve’s material is a great ‘overview’, Dennis takes us into a more granular level, complete with maps etc. Dennis is far more ‘tactical’- if you will. I really enjoy his work

Dav1d C Absolutely, Dennis ' s videos are a travellers dream come true, they are a simplified guide for first time travellers, Rick Steves' are more commercial in my view but dennis' are for a regular traveller, I love his videos and love the fact that he doesn't pop up in them every 5 seconds.

Been there twice for the Heart Festival. I really like this little town. There is an awesome Irish Pub/Hotel right by the wooden bridge. That's where the football people hang out to watch games.

Hey, some guy from Lucern here. Just want to give some input on the Lion Monument. It was built in honor of Swiss mercenaries that died defending the French king during the revolution. In the middle ages, Swiss mercenaries were regarded as the best protection and an honor to have. The Vatican still has a swiss guard. More profoundly it represents the courage of the men who defended the palace, even after the king fled. And held position to the last men.

That's crazy about the hail but it looks like they got lucky and it's not golf ball or baseball size hail that knocks out your car windows and your home windows and makes your vehicle look like a lunar landscape
