Ya, I think for the Westerosi the "Stranger" refers to one of the seven gods (the Stranger=Death, if I remember correctly) but I was a bit confused by this because the Targaryens "tolerate" the Seven (new gods) but their gods .. are their dragons, lol. Would be mine, too. I'm saying this because I just rewatched season one and the scene with Daemon, Rhaenyra and Alicent kind of stuck with me, when Daemon is pointing out that the Hightowers have already begun removing all Targaryen heraldry (three headed dragon emblems in red & black etc) in favor of 7 pointed stars etc. Like, Viserys is not even cold in the ground and they are already trying to remove every trace of him in their eagerness to embrace fanatics and zealots. People seem to be forgetting that there are scenes that show the children getting along at the beginning - yes, there were rivalries between them and teasing (remember it was all the boys who teased Aemond with the pig) but that is common amongst children. The situation was precarious, but not grievous, until Laena's funeral when things finally reached a point of no return. It is a tragedy that was built towards for many years.

I think Aegon would make a better (or less bad) ruler than Rhaenyra for several reasons : 1) I think neither Aegon nor Rhaenyra have the talent to rule, but the difference between the two is that Aegon knows it. He would have been a passive king and would have let his small council make the important decisions, while Rhaenyra overestimates her own abilities and makes mistakes. 2) As king, Aegon at least had the courage to fight his own battles as Rhaenyra spent her time hiding and sending others to die for her own cause, resulting in the deaths of Rhaenys and three of her children. 3) Rhaenyra never really bothered to learn to govern: when she had to face the consequences of her own mistakes, she preferred to flee, did not hear from her father, leaving Alicent and Otto in charge of the Kingdom. When she returns, it's only to ask her dying father for an extra favor. 4) Yes, I'd rather see a kingdom at peace ruled by two able and wise rulers (Alicent and Otto), who have risen in their abilities and are considerate of the people they rule than by a selfish daddy's girl and a supremacist psychopath who think their dragons make them superior beings.

I have mixed opinions about Rhaenyra's parenting. The boys are not perfect, but they are genuinely good. However, Rhaenyra is the sort of mother whose children can do no wrong and never suffer the consequences for nothing and to live around this people is literal hell. The problem is that Nyra is the same... She has a golden heart but she is too spoiled, and is trying to do the same with her boys. But this is dangerous to everyone in their position.

The only time this is ever even kind of shown is when Luke takes aemond's eye which was an accident and out of self-defense so him and his brother didn't DIE plus rhae didn't even know exactly what happened all she knew was her son's were bleeding and were saying they were almost killed what did you want her to do cut her little boys eye out because he defended his brother? also with rhae her dad always overshadowed her with a son(that he didn't even have yet) and made her feel like she would never be good enough and her mother was pregnant and bed ridden most of the time if she was treated like that (which we don't even know if she was) it was because her parents didn't have enough time for her(mostly viserys but aemma to)

@@cristianahayes7005 It was not self-defense if they 1) initiated the fight 2) were four against one and 3) had an weapon (in opposition to Aemond who took a rock after being beated and never used it). Luke attacked eith the knife after Jace threw sand in Aemond's eyes, when he was already disoriated: it was not out of fear, it was because of the insult. But fair enough, Rhaenyra was not there when the fight happened. Her sons were bleeding. However, what she could see clearly that they had not suffered any permanent injure, while the other boy (her brother!) was maimed. And I'm sure she could do some basic math and understand that 4>1. But she did not care. She never asked. She didn't even pretend to worry about the victim. Instead, she weaponized her father favor to threaten the victim and anyone who defended him. Viserys may have briefly made her feel less than Aegon while Aegon was a baby, but Rhaenyra knew she was the favorite as an adult and was willing to use that to hurt her brothers if it would benefit her. So what would a minimally decent person do in her place? Would you let someone gouge out a child's eye as "payment"? Certainly not. But a decent person wouldn't try to dodge punishment. In fact, as a mother, she should have punished her children herself, because that's part of parenting.

@@giovana4121 (1 jace and Luke didn't even start the fight rhaena and baela did (2 it was not because of the insult it was definitely to protect jace and aemond was the first(and only one) to threaten murder Luke was scared and didn't even mean to take out his eye (3 we have no idea weather or not Luke was punished and even if he wasn't think about everything that had just happened, he was awoken in the middle of the night almost murdered got a broken nose was assaulted by a grown woman and both of his "dads" had just died the kid was traumatized what was rhae supposed to do beat him? send her 6/7 year old to the wall for an accident? (3 viserys made her feel less than her whole life up until she was an adult basically killed her mom(in her eyes at least) married her best friend then tried to sell her off obviously she's going to try and be better for her kids. Also even if it was because of the insult that insult could get him, his brother and mother executed and alicent, her kids and everyone around them have been saying this to them since they were born pretty much trying to get them killed

In reality they should have NEVER been in this situation in the first place. Aemond was the older and said flat out he was gonna kill one of them and make them die screaming. But I want to point out that Aemond was a child too... and in the series, he is the same age as Jace and the twins. But most fans don't judged him with the same leniency as they judge the other children.

It wasn't Jace and Luc who made Aemond this way. He was damaged by the father who neglected him, the older brother who cruelly lead the bullying, and the mother who turned a blind eye to that. He wouldn't even be that obsessed with dragons if he didn't feel so neglected and tortured. Ironically, Jace and Luc could have been his only salvation in the family because they would have been true friends with him. But in the end, their parents' conflict tore them apart.
