Music as texture? Music as organism that grows and ebbs, but the details are often beautiful in themselves! Berio was a master.

I've listened through a few times. Really incredible piece of music. It's rather accessible. Other modernists take significantly more listens to engage me.

Beautiful. Not for the infant-minded.

Gotta be honest, it's the infant in me that finds joy in listening to a chaotic work like this. Like almost giggling at some of the nonsense, throwing things here and throwing things there. I get that from Ligeti as well but not the American's or Maderna whom i love but in a different way.

What is music for you?
@leoinsf2 жыл бұрын
@@krantiyatri2107 Music that is coherent! Music that has an internal logic. Music that goes somewhere. This is music that seems to be a collection of noises that go nowhere!!! I am not "infant-minded" whatever that means!
@emilianoturazzi2 жыл бұрын
@@leoinsf this music is very logic and pretty traditional, too. I understand you don't like it and since you're not attracted by it you can't find its inner logic. As a boy I couldn't find logic in this kind of music, but I was attracted by it and, while listening, I eventually was able to find its logic. It is not just a technical fact ("easy" to demonstrate through analysys), but it is perceptible by ear. You are obviously still entitled to not appreciate it and not to force yourself in listening it if you don't find any interest just in order to get able to understand its logic. You are not entitled to say that it hasn't any logic, since it's a common experience to get it with a bit of effort (and yes, before yoou ask: it's the same with all kinds of music. The only thing is that since we are exposed to some ever since we are born we don't realize that we actually learn how to listen to.)

ps no one could classify these sounds as noise under any definition of noise: these are just notes, periodic oscilations with predictable and periodic spectra... :) actually most of the content of this music is harmony, harmonic writeing...
