So sorry for what you are going through. Unimaginable ❤ I was just watching a video earlier about when Eric lost his son, Conner. Grief can tear your heart so deeply. If anyone could touch your heart and caress the aching...it is Eric Clapton. And the great Pavarotti has a voice that angels hear. May your grief be comforted by this music video. I know it's not the same loss, but I lost my 2 brothers-in-law, one in August, the other just 3 weeks ago. I am searching for strength to help each of my sisters. Very sad that they don't get along. So instead of coming together as one family, I am divided between them. Losing Family is so hard. Sending you my sympathy. I'm 72, both sisters are older than me...but I pray to our mother to guide me. I will be praying for you both. Sincerely 🙏🕊

The lyrics are beautiful, and just bc it’s called and makes reference to the ‘Holy Mother’, shouldn’t cause you to be biased - their meaning has such depth. What kind of person are you and the others who share your thoughts about this song’s words make you feel like you do? Have you no belief in anything?! Did my comment offend you in some way? It was Mary’s obedience, not her roots (although the genealogy of Jesus is very important as he is of the Davidic line ) that has caused every generation to call her blessed. Mary is daughter to Father, spouse to the Spirit and mother to the son, and she is of God’s Chosen people. Adam & Eve, Israel, and God the Son are very important to salvation history. @@peterkereszturi246 I respect and appreciate your opinion. I have no reason to criticize it. Music and musical talent strike everyone differently. That's what makes it so wonderful. While Pavarotti and Clapton are from two different worlds musically, and while their voices are certainly incomparable, this was still an amazing collaboration. In that moment, Pavarotti's voice and Clapton's guitar brought together different cultures from around the world, who may not have otherwise united over their common love for music. To me, that is a beautiful thing, but that's just my own personal opinion.

My Dad was a big Eric Clapton fan, and he was also a Catholic. He played Eric Clapton a lot during my time growing up, and so much of my Dad's taste in music has rubbed off on me as well. Sometimes my Dad would play this song while he cleaned his room, blasting it on his stereo. It was times like that I'd come in his doorway to talk to him and he'd have some truly wise words about life and God and Mary and such. This song has always given me goosebumps. Eric Clapton displays such raw powerful emotion in his songs, and he's a tremendous storyteller. Sadly, my Dad passed away this past July from kidney failure at 62, after a long bravely hard-fought few months of being in the hospital and rehab. He left this world exactly eight years and a day after we lost my Mom to pancreatic cancer. My Dad said to us, "If something happens to me, know that I'm looking for your Mom." Playing this song today has the deepest meaning and flowing of memories with my Dad than it ever has before for me, and it's songs like these that will help to carry me through this surreal, dark time in my life. Thank you Dad, for everything. I love you so much and miss you everyday, but at least you're free now from everything and reunited with our wonderful family and friends who have gone before you. Rest easy in peace in Heaven, Dad. ❤

I am a survivor of many things, I listen to this daily. It is so very beautiful. I have played it for Our Mother, at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, in Champion, Wisconsin. I'm 71 years old, zi have grown up visiting that at least once a month, as a small child. My honor & privilege to grow with parents that loved this place & we prayed for all of our families, friends & neighbors. Lately I've been going there once a week, peace & joy, loving place always. And yes I know the miracles I've been bestowed upon, & saved more than once. God bless all. Hugs. This song is amazing, more meaningful for all, than many. But I'd do have other beautiful songs, not as beautiful as this one, but they touch the heart & soul. LOVE

Can't agree Steve. There are certain singers for certain types of songs , material, genres etc. Someone I know opined on social media that Karen Carpenter was the greatest ever female singer. I suggested in response that she would not have sounded right if she had sung 'Nutbush City Limits' to name but one example. Karen Carpenter was good in her field but she was not a rock singer. Susan Boyle sounds absurd singing 'Wild Horses'. I could go on and on...For me, Pavorroti does not sound right on 'Holy Mother'. Perhaps I'm prejudiced by Eric's original version. Eric was more than a competent vocalist on most material he tackled. Would Eric have sung 'Time To Say Goodbye' as well as Pavorriti would have done? Of course not. Pavorriti was an opera singer not a particularly good crooner of MOR ballads. It's subjective of course but that's my opinion.

@@jacquelinebell7749 People never hear the same things. I never heard what you hear obviously and you never heard what I hear. As I stated it is subjective. That is only my opinion of course.

Holy Mother, where are you? Tonight I feel broken in two. I've seen the stars fall from the sky. Holy mother, can't keep from crying. Oh I need your help this time, Get me through this lonely night. Tell me please which way to turn To find myself again. Holy mother, hear my prayer, Somehow I know you're still there. Send me please some peace of mind; Take away this pain. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait any longer. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait for you. Holy mother, hear my cry, I've cursed your name a thousand times. I've felt the anger running through my soul; All I need is a hand to hold. Oh I feel the end has come, No longer my legs will run. You know I would rather be In your arms tonight. When my hands no longer play, My voice is still, I fade away. Holy mother, then I'll be Lying in, safe within your arms.
