Building CNC machine from mechanics and electrical connection to the first start. There is still a lot of work left, but if the main thing is done, the rest will not be so difficult ;)

As a kinda pro, I really suggest u using a water tray. I'm used to work with thousands of euro of plasma cutting machines (like 12x4 meters one) and water tray is the best. If put the sheet beraly underwater u keep donw close to 100% of the fumes and cutting thin stuff like from 1.5 to 3 mm u decrease the warp in the piece.

Don't submerge your aluminum parts though it can create a hydrogen gas bubble under the plate and explode. (Not a good day)

I noticed that in the video you had cut some thin aluminum sheet metal with a angle grinder and cut off wheel, ( we in America call them a death wheel ha ha). The next time you find the need to cut some aluminum try using some bee's wax on the cutting wheel, it will help cut the metal with ease. Look forward to more videos.

The machine coming out nicely! To clean dross from the parts you might want to use twisted wire cup angle grinder attachment - gets rid of the dross like a charm. The only thing is to somehow don't let the small parts to slide on a table. In the simplest case this can be done with wooden table top and some wood screw heads sticking a couple of mm from the surface. This stops small parts from "escaping" when cleaning the dross. Also it's a good idea to have some sort of small, like 1cm, "lip" (barrier) at the edge of the table in front of you, in case some of the parts actually fly towards you.

An old magnetic vice is great for holding parts for grinding. Safe for your fingers and time efficient. Available cheaply as well.

I've never seen videos so well presented . your no nonsense problem solving is wonderful. thinking this table could be stood vertically on a wall with the longitudinal travel parallel to the floor to limit the gravity on the motor and drive and then a ball screw for the cross feed ( which would then be vertical ). this could also be on wheels and just stow against a wall and thus be portable throughout your shop. P.S. I am sooo subscribed because I like the way your mind works on a problem.

Sigh, Ya gotta love a lady with awesome shop skills! And yes I mean shop... When I started building stuff like this the majority of the female population had no idea what a welder or lathe was let alone have the skills to use them. I always dreamed of finding someone I could design and build stuff with but... time... lots of time. Hi, I’m a new subscriber and I have watched a few of your videos now but was looking forward to this build. I have to ask, do you work from a plan or do you make it up as you go? How do you know what electronic motors, boards etc that you will need? Do you get any technical support regarding the electrical side as I can build almost anything but the electrical side always challenges me? I bet your grandad is so happy to see you utilising his shed. I can remember my Grandma used to tell us how she used to do machining in Britain during WW2 on Lancaster bombers and she was very proud of her new learned skills, “ never underestimate the abilities of a woman” she would say and you are living proof, it’s a huge step from bank work to fabrication, especially at the standards you set. I can't keep the whole picture in my mind, because there's too much information, so I found a prototype first, viewed it inside out, then discussed what I want with a manager in a company supplier of the parts for CNC, he helped me to choose suitable parts. Mostly I was measuring and designing on the spot. Electrics is challenging for me too, but several my subscribers were helping me to figure out how to do it.
