It's a shame that Billy apparently does not play any Zeitgeist material anymore. Of the post 2000 SP material I honestly think Zeitgeist deserves a LOT more respect and listens than it initially had. It has songs that could have been hits with any form of the band, and is personally better than pretty much anything Billy released that was not in actual album form.
@darkshiningstar36 ай бұрын
Agreed, saw them in 2018 and then in 2022, both fucking epic shows. My inner self kept hoping I would hear Zeitgeist songs but I knew this wouldnt happen... Until 2024, they started playing Doomsday Clock!!!! It sounds HUGE with their three guitars lineup (now with Kiki Wong LOVE HER). I feel Billy really cares about the record but he is somewhat traumatized by the initial reaction Zeitgeist got upon release.

I know this comment was 3 yrs ago but they did add Doomsday Clock to the set this tour(2024)

This song brings back feelings from high school. Weird! I used to listen to the Smashing Pumpkins A LOT back then. The mid 90s. This is exactly what the Smashing Pumpkins should sound like! It's just not the same without D'arcy, Jimmy, and James. I think the only reason Billy still calls the band by the same name is to keep devoted fans interested and on the look out for a new album. But it's not the Pumpkins I used to adore.
@samuelwhitehead40949 жыл бұрын
I Ava Adore them also...
@RenBush3018 жыл бұрын
No. He still calls it The Smashing Pumpkins because Billy IS The Smashing Pumpkins. The first two albums (Gish and Siamese Dream) were almost completely done by him (besides drums). In case you haven't found out because they haven't put any new music out yet this year but Jimmy is back and Jeff Schroeder is 9× the guitarist James was.

Actually, BC wrote literally over 90 percent of SP's catalog. You can check the liner notes of each album.

mid 90s is exactly how the SP should sound like in the mid 90s. 2017 is how they should sound like in 2017.

I really like the new band. No, it's not the original Pumpkins (which I loved dearly) and although I'd had hopes when Billy first announced the reformation of the band, it's clear that the others are not coming back. I got over it. Zeitgeist was very good and Teargarden by Kaleidyscope has some amazing tracks on it. Nicole Fiorentino is a talented bassist with a sweet singing voice. Mike Byrne is steady and Jeff Schroeder is graceful. Looking forward to Oceania.

Jimmy made the Pumpkins in a way John did for Zep I'm thinking. A genius drummer is like a delivery system for whatever chemistry is brilliant in a band. ie. almost essential. Rhythm is primal, so true, but uncontrollable. Representing this in reality, but with control, is really the heart. Jimmy is essential. Billy., get him back if possible, & kickstart,.fast for three weeks in the wilderness and get fever crazy and write some amazing songs, and you will take on the world, so to speak, again.

Does anyone know the chords/tuning for this song on guitar?
@damnrite848 жыл бұрын
Khaled Bishara it's c Sharp standard. look. at Corgan's basic minor chord progression it's simple .what makes him genuine is the change up he's doing it in untimely manner off the metronome
@ObscuredJellybelly13 жыл бұрын
@jsh020 He's ignoring MACHINA as well. Probably reminds him of the instable and unhappy status of the Pumpkins at the time.

Does anybody else have trouble finding the name of one of their songs? It’d be just too fucking normal to line them all out so somebody could just sort down the list and find it right? Try it sometime! They won’t fucking do it! I’ve heard one of their songs numerous times on the radio and of course the DJs NEVER tell you what you just heard! Sure, I got a few lyrics but Smashing Pumpkins is notorious for NOT including the name of the song in the lyrics! It’s a great sound, but this ends my one and only hours long attempt to find it!
