A couple of people have already said this in the comments, but I gotta say the show seems much better than the trailer portrayed it to be. Like you said, it was a pretty poorly-cut trailer. The pilot episode still had that mixed message of seriousness and humor, but I feel it was actually blended pretty well, and I look forward to being able to sit and watch the next episode.
