Tom truly acted very well this season! Playing two different characters and playing them convincingly enough for us to actually feel the difference. You actually feel “Lucifer” not acting like himself!

Season 4 was supposed to be the last season, but Netflix saw how good the show was doing and decided on a season 5 split in two parts and recently ordered a season 6.

the latter half of season 5 will probably be very intense, but the first half can’t hold a candle to s4 really (in terms of being emotional)

I'm so glad you decided not to watch the trailer. There is a bit more in the trailer that could be consider spoilery but you got to the most important one......or at least half of it....lol Such a great first episode of the season & I'm REALLY looking forward to your next reaction. As someone who has watched many reactions to this ep., the reaction of people who know is pretty great too: "OMG, is that X? No, it can't be X, it better not be X, OMG, she's kissing him, _please_ tell me it's not X! Please, please, please! AIIIGH! It's X OMG NO! NO! NO!" :D But I think it's better for the _reactor_ not to know, so I voted don't watch.

Yess I've been waiting for this. Your the first reactor I have seen that can sympathize with Maze and understand why she does the things she does. Honestly I feel like Maze is still searching for her role in the world and it doesn't help that Lucifer undermines her worth. I hope this changes in the second part

I understand the sympathy for Maze but she's been using the same excuse for 5 seasons now to cause chaos and betrayal because of it. And everyone keeps forgetting that guy from the Canadian bounty hunter episode. THAT guy was perfect for her AND wanted her and she said no, so I guess I don't really see her having an excuse anymore.

@@robrip2 5 seasons is a bit of an exaggeration. Season 1 she was being used by both Amenadiel and Lucifer. In season 2 she expressed how she was feeling abandoned when Lucifer revealed he was returning to heaven. She didn't betray him in that season she merely took out her anger on him. Season 3 it started off with linda going against Maze's wishes and dating Amenadiel. The issue Maze had was that both Linda and Amenadiel lied to her multiple times despite it being evidently clear something was up. It later escalated when Lucifer refused to take Maze back home (something she has been expressing from the very start of the series) due to not wanting another incident similar to what happened with Cain's brother which frankly I don't necessarily understand since Maze is on earth in her own body and Lucifer would be taking her back not bringing her. Maze betrays Lucifer because Cain caught her in a very emotionally vulnerable position. Season 4 Maze is starting to look for her own connection so once again she did not betray Lucifer. Season 5 shows us that Maze suffers from abandonment issues. She felt like her mother never wanted her which is why she abandoned her, she finally found someone she could connect to and they left, Lucifer left back to hell breaking his promise of abandoning her on earth and Chloe no longer wanted to work with her. Factor all of this in with Michael catching her and manipulating her while she's emotionally vulnerable and it's only natural she'd take Michael's side, he had been the only one being honest with her after all. As corrupted as he may be, it's possible Michael realized Maze's worth which is why he was honest with her and not with everyone else. Lucifer hid the fact that Lilith was on earth and at this point they have 4-5 years on earth. For a total of 70 something years, Lucifer knew exactly where Lilith was and never even bothered to tell Maze. Lucifer broke his promise on abandoning Maze on earth. When he says "why didn't you ask Amenadiel" he fails to realize that Maze wanted her best friend (which is Lucifer) to consider her the day he goes back to hell. As we all saw he didn't even bother to go to Maze and ask if she wanted to return back with him, something she's wanted since the first season. So aside from feeling abandoned by everyone and lied to by Lucifer, she was being treated as worthless. The one storyline that has yet to be completed for Maze is her quest to find her place in the world. In this season Maze is on a quest to search for a soul since she believes that she needs one in order to connect with others. While Amenadiel assures her that anything is possible, Lucifer shuts her down. When she reminds him about the things that were previously thought to be impossible he told her that they were different and she's "just a demon". As we saw this hurted Maze deeply because in little words he's saying that they are powerful creatures meanwhile she's worthless and can be easily replaced. There's no reason why he should treat Maze differently compared to how he treats the others like Chloe, Linda or Amenadiel. Especially since she's the one who has protected him for eons. Right before they fight, based on her tone and body language Maze seemed to go back and forth internally, deciding whether to take Lucifer's side or Michael's. She tells him about Michael's plan to bestow her a soul. When Maze asks him if its because she's just a demon when he responded by saying "impossible", he says "exactly" while laughing at the idea as if it were a joke. If Lucifer had told Maze that she isn't just a demon and has proved just how powerful she is over the years (he picked her to leave hell with him because she's stronger than average demons) Maze would have more than likely turned on Michael. But Lucifer being Lucifer since he thinks he knows everything told her it was impossible. Yes she did find a potential partner (Ben Rivers) but he was asking her to just abandon her life in L.A. to leave with him. She said no because she had several bestfriends she'd be leaving behind if she did. These "excuses" are very much justified. Edit: Lolll had to put "Cain's brother" instead of "Abel". Dang I didn't realize I had written a whole essay😅, but i stand by everything I wrote

They mentioned it back in season 2 but it's important to remember that time passes much differently in hell than it does on Earth. For instance, 30 seconds on Earth has been compared to 30 years so the fact that Lucifer has been gone for months on Earth is a REALLY, REALLY long time for him (thousands of years as they put it in the show). Point being that by the time Mr. Said out Bitch's body was found he had already experienced a bunch of hell loops which is why it could start with Lucifer instead of with the Chloe at the crime scene.

Glad to see that you've made it to Season 5. I used to think Season 2 was my favorite season and then season 4 came along and I was like DAYUM! Now we're only 8 episodes into season 5 and it just amazes me what they've been able to do with the show. At the center of this, of course, if Tom Ellis who continues to showcase Lucifer's growth season after season and it is a big part of the reason why this show stays on repeat for me in my Netflix.
