one little thing i noticed about their relationship is that Lucifer was really the only character in the show to call him Daniel by his full name i think this was a subconscious thing on Lucifer's part because he's so used to talking to people who are or he considers a sibling has a name ending in EL

In the season finale of 5B, when Michael shows up at Lux & admits to Lucifer that he ordered Dan's murder, I always envision some more dialogue that had fitted right in there. Even if it isn't spoken out loud I feel it's there between the twins: Michael: "Why do you complain, brother? I always got the impression you never liked the Douche. I did you a favor ridding him out of your life." Lucifer: "A favor? Don't you ever again call me brother! Daniel Espinoza was far more a brother to me than you ever have been to me & from now on certainly never will hope to ever be!" After that Michael appeared on the show I more & more felt & realized what Dan pretty much has meant & symbolized to Lucifer. Dan was to him what Michael should have been but never was, a real brother. A brother to tease & make fun of, a brother to love & support when it was needed. Dan filled a void for Lucifer & now I finally get why.

The real crime is that Lucifer never got to experience any proper intimate brotherly moments with Dan before he died. He didn't get to say how much he appreciates him for becoming better, and express how much he really means to him.

Because of his death, and the narrative direction from that point- I was destroyed. I felt like his death was more pivotal than anything that came after because it was unexpected and so, so tragic. I was kind of afraid to watch this because everytime I see him I start choking up. You captured their dynamic so perfectly. I'm smiling and crying all over again. Thanks for this. It's good to know some people were affected on the level I was.

I had the same reaction as you when watched ep15 for the first time. I cried more on his death than on the next episode, because it was truly unexpected for me and seemed a bit unrealistic. But that scene in hospital killed me 😭💔💔💔 And after, when appeared that he is in Hell it draw me nuts. I have a bit of hope that he would overcome his guilt and go to Heaven in the next season

Even though Lucifer would never admit it to himself, he absolutely did love and care for Dan and there's no denying it. It's very visible through his actions towards him, even the playful banter they throw back and forth with each other. I'm truly going to miss their friendship and I hope to god we see some justice for Dan because I know Lucifer and Amanadiel both won't stop until Dan is resting in the right place. But when appeared it could be season 6, they changed this a bit, so we possibly could see him in the next season.
