So here's the ironic truth about Goth stereotypes. I went grocery shopping with my son a few years ago and encountered a woman who decided to sing the the word Jesus to me as we passed. She obviously doesn't know me or my family but, decided to judge me based on my appearance. I was dressed in very basic goth attire and had just painted my nails black that day as they were looking a bit rough and chipped before. We went to checkout and she had seen us again. She said "how old is he?" I told her and she then said "God loves you, you know that?" I then replied, Yes, he absolutely does." And with that awkward conversation, off she went. Little did she even know, I am Christian and believe in God wholeheartedly. I'm a loving husband and Christ-following father of two. Of course my wife and family know that but, she didn't. Too bad she had such a negative awkward interaction with us. She'll never know, but that's ok. God has eyes and ears. Just a little true life story to share. Stay spooky my friend! 🕸️💀🦇

I am a Christian too, very devout. A few days ago , I walked into Walmart wearing Tripp pants and dressed all black etc. and this woman looked at me with fear on her face, if she would only know, how kind I am.

I think all black is incredibly beautiful. I don't look as Goth as I used to - rarely now - but always I think of how beautiful and elegant it looks when I see someone else dressed in black, and how much thought they put into their style and appearance. 👍 immediately much more attractive than the average person. Thanks for explaining the Sigil of Lucifer! I've been drawn to it - it makes perfect sense why now.

The logo Zeal & Ardor use also has a "Z" inside the top triangle and uses the "V" as an upside-down "A", playing with the mentioned togetherness of opposites and the occult motto "As below, so above". Pretty fun symbolism for a band logo.

@@lilachris They are, or rather he is, definitely worth checking out, especially for someone interested in occult and religious symbolism, used in metaphorical, political and literal context. The German-English mixture makes for a unique listening experience, as of course also does the super creative mash of music genres. The intelligent execution of the project definitely has made me a fan over the last year.

Sehr interessante Serie. 🖤 Was auch spannend wäre als Video wäre die Farbe Schwarz. Zählt sie auch als Symbol? Welche Bedeutung hat sie? Nutzen Goths in anderen Ländern in denen Farben andere Bedeutungen haben trotzdem schwarz (ich denke da an den asiatischen Raum wo in manchen Kulturen ich glaube weiß oder rot mit Trauer und Tod verbunden sind)?

Interesting. Very good explanation. I would like a genius mu artist who could achieve even half of your beauty with my face. But on the topic - I’m conflicted about symbols which are associated with the “left hand side” of spirits and magick. Honestly, I would be frightened to have symbols of Satan. I realize now that my reaction is hypocritical or at least contradictory to my religious beliefs. I don’t believe in religious interpretations, but I do sense that there is something. People have different names for the powers beyond their intentions. Some think they sense the paranormal, others believe in demons and angels, still others think we are surrounded by beings we can’t see, but our existence overlaps. I think there is something just outside our perception, but occasionally people experience the other side. I am fairly sensitive and try to be open minded, but I could live the rest of my days without getting a clear view of an entity we can’t explain. I don’t want to increase my chances of invoking anything dangerous. I guess I’ve been strongly influenced to believe in a battle of good and evil. It’s silly to fear what I don’t believe exists, i know. Well, you have invited me to explore symbols and beliefs more rationally. Thank you.

I completely understand what you mean and I think that a lot of people live in this kind of state of not really believing but still being somewhat spiritual. I personally would describe myself as an atheist but also an agnostic. I do not have any evidence for the existence of a god figure, so I definitely do not believe in that, but I also think that I do not know everything that is going on in the world either.
