If I recall, he let her believe it b/c she's just so sweet/accepting & he didn't want her to hate him, which I understand; but, he still had the ability to prove his identity to her & he didn't.

Her being so heartbroken and disappointed was one of the saddest storylines in Lucifer. Ella is one of my favorite characters.

I'm so glad she finally knows, and instead of them doing a thing where the character gets all upset/scared and avoids Lucifer/Maze they have her upset that no one told her. Because Ella's right she already believes in God, so her doing that wouldn't make sense.

You say that but her position on demons would be worse than Chloe's not better. The same for Lucifer. She's presented as a hardcore believer even if the death of Charlotte shakes it for a little while. Find me a Latina American who's a devout Christian. That thinks a man pretending to be the devil is good to be around. I love her absolutely, but that's massively unlikely. In actuality the show isn't particularly acceptable to the more strict christians because they believe it glorifies the devil. My mother would absolutely never tolerate this. And she's somewhat chill, in the sense that she doesn't hate on gay marriage and shit. Hatred for the devil and demons trumps any Christian prejudice.

God wasn't lying when he said the apple was poisonous. A proclivity towards sinful behaviour was the poison. In essence, if Adam had resisted Samael/Lucifer/Satan whatever you wish to call him's deceit, we wouldn't all be tempted to sin.

But defiance wass the "act", the moral mood on which it rested was "arrogance", "superbia", "pride", "hubris" - whatever synonym there is; still today one of the deadly sins in the catholic list. How can you defy or disobey a god if you do not think yourself capable of doing so? And how arrogant do you have to be in order to think you are EQUAL to a god? The feeling/emotion of OVERESTIMATING yourself is arrogance - the sin with roots in your soul. The seed in the heart and mind is the sin. The "act" is the product, the result, the fruit of the sin. Nevertheless, I believe that we have a conscience and the free will to make choices. So that an individual MAY or MAY NOT be successful in not giving in to the sin. Still, this is just my personal view. I'm not trying to convince anyone. Only sharing.

Ella is great. It is sad that they waited until the last hairy moment to have the true believer know the truth. Also, lets face it, the truth has mentally scarred a few people in the show. Linda went almost catatonic, and Chloe nearly went insane. But at least she got to know before the series' end.

Everyone else didn't believe him either. They only believed him when they saw his devil/face or wings. They needed actual evidence of the divine. Ella never got that. But Ella likely would have taken such evidence as a sign of a mental disorder, not realizing she actually was seeing the divine. Lucifer though never lied. He was under no obligation to prove his divinity either.
