This movie is so sad because even though there is potential space for love, the harsh reality of war forever seels their fate. At first I was like do not conversate with the officer, but then I saw underneath who he really was and saw how unfairness can occur following orders can be. I felt a little bad for Bruno because no matter how much he tried to be good, he was a tool for an unshakeable evil 😢

I found this movie on Amazon Prime this weekend, and am loving it. I have watched a few videos and read some comments and reviews. I think we are mostly women who watched it and are making the comments because we are all in love with Bruno and wish that such a man exists in our own lives. He is beautiful to look at; a gorgeous physical specimen, and he is also a really good actor. I had to think about why he honours her every request , even when doing so may cause harm to him, and I came to the conclusion that it is because she represents every love in his life bundled into one great love. She represents the love of his family; the two brothers already lost in the war and the loveless marriage as well. He has no friends that he can relate to in his army, and she is suffering from a lack of love in her life as well. Together, they can feel so not alone , and even though they are not destined to be together, they will , as long as they live, have the memory of love and desire fulfilled. The author of the short story this film is based on never wanted them to be together in her story , so that is why the ending is so sad. Wars are a horrible experience for all!!

Unglaubliche Schauspielerei !!! Ein Bild , das mich in diese nicht ausgesprochene Liebe einfühlen ließ . Ihre Ähnlichkeit , ihre Einsamkeit , ihre Sinnlichkeit ... der Wunsch, denen Sie vibrierten . Wie viel sie sich gegenseitig geben konnten , wie viel Gefühl steckt in jedem ... sie sind beide sehr leidenschaftlich ... aber was sich in ihnen öffnete, war diese verbotene Liebe, die anfangs zum Scheitern verurteilt war. Lucille, das Erlebte, ließ leben , und Bruno .... Bruno , einfach geliebt , die wahre Liebe ( Liebe ist egoistisch . für sie hat er seine Pflicht gebrochen. ich weiß nicht , warum sich die Umstände so entwickelt haben , dass ich diesen Film einmal gesehen habe . wie tief und so lange hat er meine Seele berührt. Aber trotzdem wurde Lucille viel stärker (obwohl es mir scheint , dass es eine weibliche Manipulation ist , als sie beschloss , dem Landwirt zu helfen. ihr Vertrauen in die Liebe Bruno . Denken Sie daran, mit welchem verzweifelten Gesichtsausdruck sie zu ihm ging . Etwas an ihm war , was mich dazu brachte , darüber nachzudenken , dass sie alles beenden wollte , damit er sie durchschaut und bestraft wird . Sie war schwer zu ertragen , aber sie wählte auch Schulden . Die Szene am Ende ist atemberaubend .... das ist Stille .... Bruno - Bruno , wie sehr wolltest du mit dieser Frau geistig und physisch eins werden, wie viele Jahre warst du unter diesen Menschen ein fremder Betrüger ?! Als Geisel des Systems , wie viele Jahre du auf Lucille gewartet hast ... Sie war aufrichtig zu dir , aufrichtig in ihren Gefühlen ... Diese zerknitterte Szene ... sie hat dich akzeptiert , alles , was in dieser Situation sehr schmerzhaft sein kann . Also hast du gesagt , es sei nicht wahr , als sie sagte , sie habe ihre Meinung geändert , einen Fehler gemacht , weil der männliche Teil alles fühlte und alles verstand, wie wir es in solchen Momenten verstehen . Ein schöner Eindruck, der Film ist für immer bei mir.

Just saw for the first time. It was very moving and at such a bittersweet time in history. There is so much character and refinement in both Bruno and Lucile It really took me in, and isn't that what movies are supposed to do. Will be watching many times. The novel was incomplete because the author died in a concentration camp. We don’t know exactly how the story was to end. The author probably had an idea about how the novel was to finish but she unfortunately was captured and killed before she could finish the novel.

Siiim! :(( como se a tragédia de vários romances que floresceram durante as guerras mundiais entre pessoas de lados opostos já não bastasse, a autora que não pôde terminar a história dela a tempo e foi morta em um campo é ainda pior. O ser humano tem a capacidade de amar e destruir em quantidades idênticas, mas espero que o pêndulo sempre caia mais para o lado do amor. Assisti ao filme pela primeira vez essa noite e já estou assombrada por este romance!
