What a gorgeous piece of pure craftsmanship. Start to finish. The lyrics hit that note of deep disappointment better than a whole novel could. And that performance. Gorgeous. Makes it that much more heartbreaking when they get to the end.

Hits so close to home when you realize the person you're with isn't the one you thought you'd be with. As hard as you look, you can't find something that isn't there. Reminds me of the Miranda Lambert song "Run" in that she says "'I'm looking for someone I wasn't - with you". Great song.

OK, here's the hater's comment: I am so sick of modern formulaic pop music. I hear the talent here, but seriously? This just sounds so generic to me. With the right production this could be a country song or a pop song or a pop-rock song. It's not bad, I'm not going to puke blood after listening to this song. It's just boring. This song has such a 1970's mid ballad pop sound. That is what makes it unique because it is 2022. The whole purpose of the song is not to sound pop or country. Not being able to label a genre is just enjoying the Art. When I write music and record I do not write to a genre. I heard this on Austin City Limits and love both the Piano Version and regular version. Just my opinion.
