Zvika, thanks for letting me know about this harmonica. I bought it before i even knew how to regular bend... but I saw the atractive potential to play with it chromaticaly instead my regular slide chromatic harmonica. So now when i bend and even overbend and blow it is realy uniqe and awesome... Cheers

@@yarone4451 Great to know! I play mainly with A key and its scales on 10 hole Richter, and this one cover the exact same range with symmetrical bends and full chromatic notes, its quite easy to combine. I ordered the Lucky13 in PowerDraw G yesterday, to get down to G but also try Brendan's approach to the high octave, with less overblows (maybe 1-2 there is misses chromatic notes) and regular draw bends instead. Enjoy!

@ZvikaDror2 жыл бұрын
@@yarone4451 Same here - it does play fair OOTB, but the low valves needs to be removed or replaced with heavy ones, I didn't remove above hole 3 as I enjoy the expressive blow "bended" vibrato and I don't need overblows on it. The design requires narrower valves so the original ones on 2 first holes were hinged between the comb and plate, so when removed you get a bit of extra air tightness as they level on each other. But its an easy fix.

The Harmonica I've always wanted!!!!! A harmonica as chromatic as my guitar with out a push valve !
@SuperHyperExtra4 жыл бұрын
Yes, a completely chromatic instrument, but no slide needed AND no duplication of notes (E#/F, B#/C/C and C#/C#) like on the chromatic harp. Very logical, very satisfying!

@@BrendanPowerMusic I can already answer to you!😉If I were to forget all my 35 years playing harp ( richter tuning & dislikin' playin' Cromatic harmonica)I would directly choose your "diminished Lucky 13"...! I worked a lot on scales and positions,imagined many ways of adding missing notes on the standart richter tuning(flatened half step hole 2 draw & blow+ sharp draw 5 half step was the ' best' I could find) I knew about overbends but not about gaping netheir embossing so I had hard time mastering them .😔 Now whith your "Dim L 13" every beginner can find directly every note on the harp :that's hightly appreciable. The difference is so considerable😯😇!!!!! Thanks so much,mister power for this revolutionnary création. The new diatonic generation can be called " audmented lucky" up to you. Respectfully yours

Great demo. I hope it helps get more players to experiment with altered tunings. But the real question is, what kind of music is it suited for? Play us a song!

Bravo, Brendan! It would be nice to hear some jazz played on one of these. Scale demos are fine, too, but it would be cool to hear at least one tune, say in F, Bb or Eb, very common keys for lots of jazz tunes. I hope someone will chime in here regarding preferred keys for horn players. Anyone? Is there an option for the the one hole blow note, the starting note to be maybe low F or G3? Or is the dimi Lucky 13 available starting only on A3? I expect many would like the options, which I don't see anywhere, yet. Thanks for any input here. Peace.
@BrendanPowerMusic4 жыл бұрын
For now, this is the only model. It's fully chromatic and all keys are equally easy, so there's not the same necessity for a bunch of different ones as with other tunings, which are strongly based in a single key. However if the demand is there, in future I will happily add a couple more with different starting notes 🙂
@BrendanPowerMusic4 жыл бұрын
As for examples of jazz played on Diminished: whilst I'm an admirer of the tuning, I'm not an accomplished player with it. There are very few around who've explored it to date - something I hope the easy availability of an OTB Diminished harp will address, because the tuning really deserves to be used more widely! I'm reaching out to a few who have been using it a while, and hope to show examples of their playing soon.

@@BrendanPowerMusic I was thinking one might like G3 and Bb available. Indeed, not many dimi diatonic players. Alfred Hirsh is/was incredible on his dimi short harp. I think his started at F#3. Plus, he had a cool resonator that he played through.

funny, it doesn't sound quite that smooth when I do it... maybe a bit more practice? Great offering in the '13. I have this in a 10 hole, in low f. I think I would like the extended range. Christmas.

is there a software allowing to transcribe all the Richter tabulation in tabulation for this harmonica ?
@teliph3U3 жыл бұрын
I wrote something myself that can be easily changed to allow that (and many more features, such as excluding stuff that you can't do like overblows). It's really not that complicated once you understand a bit of music theory. If there is enough interest I may turn this into a cheap smartphone application or a website. Would you say many people play with tabs? The irony is, I just recently learned playing by ear on Standard Richter tuning so I don't really need it myself anymore. :D

If it has 4 octaves, then in any key, it would have 3 full octaves. I would buy one with 4 octaves.
