11:45 - I saw a little mexican dude fish just like this, back in La Pas sometime in 1996. We went out onto this dock that was maybe six inches above the water. People were tossing shrimp to a huge school of tarpon, just like this segment. This mexican dude, maybe all of four feet tall, comes out and lays down on the dock. He takes a shrimp and holds it out over the water and, sure enough, a tarpon comes surging up to snatch it. This ballsy local just shoves his whole arm down the tarpon's open maw, grabs it by the gill (I guess) and hauls it right up onto the dock like... hey, no big deal. Removes his arm from the thing's mouth, throws the fish over his shoulder, and ambles away as nonchalant as you please. The damn fish was a good three feet or so long, and still thrashing about but that didn't phase the dude at all. Had to be the single most gung ho noodler I ever saw.

This was a Great Hammerhead shark. They did try to revive and release her for around 40 minutes, but she didn't survive. About 400lbs of meat was distributed by local food banks and the carcass was given to the Smithsonian for research.

@8:54 *That's a Lamprey. Lampreys are parasitic feeders that attach themselves to the sides of other fish to feed on their blood. In this case, one of two things happened. The fisherman caught a Bass with a Lamprey attached or he first caught the lamprey which caught the bass's attention who in turn swallowed it and is why it's hanging through the gill plates.*

Slip up and just a 40lb catfish can take you under real quick. People get tangled in line have found themselves getting taken off their feet then straight into water. If tension is kept on the line around feet etc, then you can literally just disappear under the surface.

@binthenw31482 жыл бұрын
Yes, respect for sure, but also darwinism at its finest. When they are releasing it the guys guiding the shark by its tail fin and mid section are doing it right, but the goon that is standing in front of the shark hold it's head to guide it absolutely deserves to be eaten.... Who in their right mind would do that!? I don't wish harm on anyone that is trying to do a good thing but this situation makes me rethink my standpoint on that idealogy lol
