While I never worked for Bungie, I have worked on other projects/games and can say that instead of removing content from a game, often times content would be “locked” or “gated” by time coding them to some future tense. Why? Laziness lol but removing content could have adverse affect and intro bugs. It’s always easier to add things in but a pain to remove things. The easy solution we’re always to time code them “out” so they are not really “removed” just hidden away. I have joked with colleagues in the past about this exact scenario. I’m smiling from ear to ear that this did happened.

Mhmmm, a lot of the time, even if seemingly mundane, code can be attached to things, that thing itself is scrapped, but you still need the code. Since the Dawning Event was replaced by the first SRL event, it wouldn't be far fetched to assume some Dawning quest line was attached to the tower map, but then the quest line was edited and replaced with SRL quest line, but quest line was still attached to the map.

Changing datetime stamps are one of the easiest ways to keep users from seeing database assets. A private company I worked for would do this all the time when adding menu options to different apps that weren't ready. We would also reserve an id prefix for database records that the government told us were supposed to be deleted. My boss was big on never deleting data. Just hide it from the user.

Question - how many people signed into D1? vs. playing D2? I see noobs all the time in there. Crucible is really rough as far as getting beyond the loading screen. I don’t see why they don’t run holiday/special events it can’t be that hard to flip a switch. This "non-event" kind of illustrates that to me. They could do a double drops week, iron banner week, strike week, prison week, trials week…..then rotate it each month. Mantling is really the only thing I would like to see brought into D1. I just think they’re wasting another opportunity to bring in money. Eververse has always been active where does that money go? And finally is it Bungie or Sonys decision to make this decision?

the music alone bro. i miss this game and these days. the story was pretty meh, but everything else with this game was insanely good and ahead of its time. when d2 came out and was so bad and different i just lost interest in the series and the IRL friends i played with quit. so ill randomly have an itch to play PVP for a cpl of weeks and i dont log on for months. also the monetization with d2 is a joke. im not buying season passes dungeon keys and DLC's thats fkn joke. the sooner D2 dies the better off we'll be, we need D3 or a new game all together.

I never get why they just can't let some passionate dev/player work on some of these games. Diablo2/D2R would be way better in the hands of some random jerk off the street than in blizzards hands, same as Destiny1. Let them tinker with the code, test stuff out, add in some microtransactions. Hell, they'd make some big bucks. People ripping WoW's code and creating their own NPCs/Scripts for servers, and selling their own boosts/powerups/legos/gold etc. is a thing because it was easier for the pirates to do. Just give these games to the pirates if you cannot and chose not to make any $$ off them.

There's no point in a D1 remaster. Just make the D1 content that we already have free so people who did not play D1 will have stuff to do while Bungie tries to get their crap together.
