Lovely video. I’m in the long process of performing restorative conservation on a 1867 Steinway Square Grand that hasn’t been touched in 70+ years. All original parts, even the strings. I called Steinway for scraps of information - they laughed in my face. But we have come so far. I am determined to finish and sound it correctly.

This is one of my favorite videos on this entire website. The careful preservation of historic instruments is a sacred occupation

Were we listening to Henry Cowell's Aeolian Harp? Quite fitting in sound but ironic too!

I know that's a Handel keyboard suite. I love them. Don't know them by number, but I know them when I hear them. This one has that romping and frolicking quality of the baroque period.

If you can find the "town" of Westerleigh , it is near yate and Chipping Sodbury, there is a secondhand shop named the Wot Not and last week there was a Broadwood square there for sale?

Fantastic. I'm working on an 1812-ish Wilkinson & Wornum which is virtually identical, except the hitch & tuning pin locations are reversed.

That arrangement kept the instrument in tune much longer as the tuning pins were away from the vibrating soundboard

Lovely video. There are two square pianos in my local museum. One is a Longman & Broderip, obviously not made by them. I have a Cittern with their stamp.

Quelle patience vous avez de restaurer ces instruments anciens! Je me demande qui mettrait l'argent nécessaire pour un travail aussi minutieux?
