I have just purchased myself and 1818 Broad wood square remarkably similar to this instrument. Thank you for giving me a window into what my instrument will sound like once i have some restoration of dampers and hammers done!

Pianos like this NEVER had kneelevers. A broadwood square of this time needs to get his pedal back ! But all in all a nice piano !
@PfadiHH6 жыл бұрын
You are certainly right concerning the pedal. Do you have one fo sale? :-)
@maximeschleyer84426 жыл бұрын
No i don't - Pedals like this are very rare ... But a good woodworker can replicate one for you - I know one who can do this ( I'm in Germany).

Yes it would have had a pedal screwed into the piano on the left to match the reeded legs of the piano…..I am getting one made when my piano is restored,yes even in this small country there is a brilliant restorer and maker of early keyboard instruments.Look on the website Michael Cole square pianos,.. under the heading instruments…. square pianos, there is a piano like yours and mine with a small sequence with the piano sound.It shows the peal clearly.I think you will find this english site interesting..

Hi John, thanks for the link - it's really the same model. I'll post another video after the restauration.

HI again pfadil…..though I would give you an update. My piano is currently being fully eternally restored, by the best and only expert in this country, who does all the harpsichords forte pianos and squares for the universities here.So exciting. I shall have it by June, incidentally I am looking forward to playing that beautiful Schubert Impromptu….which is also in my repertoire.It sounds so much better at the lower pitch.t

Very sensitive and well played pieces and lovely instrument……I have just purchased an identical instrument mine is dated 1822.Yet to be restored inside(at least everything is there) in January 2015.I have one question. It looks like you are using a knee sustaining pedal…..is it original…….Mine is missing so needs to be remade……I though broadwood used wooden foot pedals at that stage.The hole for it is at the back on the right and would have been screwed in on my piano……..they are such elegant instruments, in fact this model was called The Elegant i believe,how they could be turned into desks as they were after the pianos developed further was criminal.I look forward to more schubert maybe some duets

Hello John, thank you for commenting and subscribing to my channel! In fact the knee "pedal" on my instrument is a rather poor quality replacement. I don't know if it was originally equipped with a real pedal, but I will try to find out when my piano restorer comes next time to see me. The instrument also needs new bass strings and some regulation - but it sounds already wonderful as it is. Hope to find your's on your channel?!

Hi Kenneth, I fear that most strings have been already replaced at least once, but I will still ask an expert. Thank you for subscribing to my channel!
