I know I get stoned and what the movie all the time. This movie is so amazing in the way that it expresses the meaning of the Beatles music, which is Love. Plus how they all so tell this amazing love story about Jude and Lucy while explaining the 60's and all of its confused-ness and innocence.

Of course I know this!! I'm a HUGE Beatles and Alice in Wonderland freak, and having read up on The Beatles a lot, I've read interviews where John has stated that Lewis Carroll was an inspiration. But I've also read interviews where John, and even Paul, have said drugs played a part in writing this song. Come to think of it, drugs played a huge part in creating the entire album of Sgt. Pepper. I'm also surprised you even responded to my comment after all this time. I've forgotten I even wrote it

@STANDBYtheband21 Paul McCartney said himself that John Lennon's son's drawing was the inspiration to write the song, but the song itself was written about LSD. Because Knowledge is Power! :D

@STANDBYtheband21 well you have to understand that it is quite a coincidence that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds looks like LCD, which John did come out and say that he did use. But yes, people should get all of the facts straight.

The initial idea and inspiration came from John Lennon's son's picture. The name of the picture really was Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds because that is what Julian Lennon named it after a girl in his class. However, the images described in the song are, I believe, from John's own hallucinations while he was drugged out on LSD.

guys. LSD... Lucy is the L, in the S for Sky, with D for Diamonds.. I believe it was Lennon who said in an interview it was very clearly about LSD. I dont really see how there's any question behind the meaning of the song

Ok so it's about his son's picture. You still have to admit that the idea the song was going to be taken as a metaphor for LSD crossed his mind. Their image was based around the counterculture and so was their fan base and a big part of counterculture was dropping acid.
