Thank you for a great vid. In my 20 years living there, I only made primary school trips in the 60's. Such access as you have today were non-existent, and the most I ever saw of the BR gorge was from a bus. Kudos to the authorities for having managed the forest and made it accessible while preserving its essence.

Love the video. Live in London with my family and was meant to visit last year. Can't believe you haven't covered Gorges. You need to get a 4k camera! Thanks Lucy!
@LucyLeheilleix3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! How are things over in London at the moment? We’re lucky here as we’re virtually back to normal now. I come to the gorges a lot but have never filmed here. I have no idea why? Perhaps as it’s too hot 😛 I own several 4K cameras but never shoot in 4K as it’s way too memory intensive on my computer. All of the best :)

Lucy, we love your videos and find them informative and interesting. Wish we could travel there. One thing to comment/improve maybe is the background music. They are usually too loud for your voice so we have to increase volume when you talk and have to constantly lower the volume in between because the back ground music is really loud! Can you please do something about it in your next videos?
@LucyLeheilleix3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this feedback. On what device are you watching these videos? I ask as you’re the only person who has commented on voice/music mixing issues. I mix everything to -6db. 😀

Miss the gorges so much. One of my favourite places on earth, although I did prefer it before they built the road and parking place. Back then the only way there was mostly on foot with parts you could cycle. Bassin des aigrettes was the place to go, now no more than a pool of water everyone drives past on the way to the parking.

It must've been even better back in the day when there was no official raod. I was there again today and I could just imagine the dodo walking around.

Hi Lucy, this is a great video! My partner and I will be visiting Mauritius for 2 weeks in September and we want to spend a day at the Black River Gorges National Park. The reviews on Tripadvisor are mostly positive, but there are 2 reviews from different people saying they were robbed by two people with machetes at the entrance/exit! One of the reviews said they were in the park between 1pm and 4pm when they were robbed, so quite a significant part of the day. This is obviously a scare for us, but what are the chances of this happening? We would prefer to visit the park on our own without a group or guide but we are worried about safety. Are there usually lots of people around throughout the day within the park? This would make us feel safer knowing we will see other tourists or locals frequently, as we assume these robberies took place when they were completely alone with nobody else around! Thank you! 🙂
@LucyLeheilleix Жыл бұрын
Hello! You would be extremely unlucky to become a victim of crime in the gorges. I’ve walked there regularly for 6 years with no problems at all. Early morning it is usually buzzing with people. There are some great hikes with fantastic viewpoints. Have fun 👍🏻

The only irritation are the red ants which can bite and cause a bit of an itchy reaction. Apart from that, Mauritius is very safe.
