get a large space station into SUCH a low orbit around a planet or moon where if the space station is oriented in the wrong way it will crash into the planet at least. and then have bill jump over it when it comes by.

KSP of course only uses a simplified gravity system where celestial bodies are on rails around the celestial body above them in the hierarchy, and vessels are only affected by one celestial body according to SOI (sphere of influence). In reality, every celestial body affects each other and any vessel. This "n-body problem" is computationally hard and long term unpredictable (search for "ternary star system" e.g.), which is why KSP uses the simple model. However, in the n-body approach, there exist many more possibilities to optimize dV at the expense of travel time.[1] [1] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interplanetary_Transport_Network

@tsgaerospace6 жыл бұрын
actually, it would be more of a bunch of 1/24A battery stacked on top of each other, an A battery is 1.1540132507874443358314326056262 times thicker than an AA battery, then i multiplied the thickness of 17mm of an A battery until it reached roughly 1.25 meters, and by roughly i mean the closest you can get before going over, that is 1249.605 mm, counted the number of multipications and the resulting number was 24, so a 1/24A battery it is

I dont think anyone (mostly) thinks the world is flat. I have heard other things about how space flight is impossible that sound a lot more put together (radiation belt, how physics dont work like that, exc) and i do think people believe that, even if they are just a wrong. Humanity has never collectively thought the world was flat. We could see the shape of the moon and other bodies, the shadow of the earth on the moon, and how the botom of objects at sea was obscured by the curvature, to tell us its shape. We may have thought it was the center of the solar system, and even that it was much smaller, but ever since people wondered what shape the planet was, we have known it was a sphere. The flat earth thing comes from an old fantasy novel and has been taken by some people as an actual belief. Sadly those "some people" were cultists that formed Zetetic Societies in the 1800s and published books with flawed experiments cited as proof. More people believe in a flat earth today than they did in ancient egypt or rome but most people are just trolls. The claims of vaccines giving you autism, global warming being false, and the worldwide belief in magic is the real problems that do cause real damage. The biggest problem is these beliefs only exist still because people want them to. They dont want to be wrong or to think about things in diferent ways. You cant show them evidence or ask for it because facts and evidence are irrelevant to them. The entire foundation for these things has nothing to do with faith and belief, it has to do with not believing anything else.

I just discovered your channel, and I'm glad I did. I like the mix of talking about KSP and politics, and in the universe you've built, KSP politics. Aside from the commentary, this craft and general mission profile is just so silly. Some might even consider it fake news.

Hypothesised is the word you mean, not theorised.
@BradleyWhistance7 жыл бұрын
I don't think Krog TV was using theory in the scientific sense, but the more general sense. It is a common use of the word.
@MGSLurmey7 жыл бұрын
Oh don't worry, I'm well aware of the common use. It's just incorrect and I highly dislike seeing people use it in such a way, especially in a largely scientific community such as this. It's almost akin to using the imperial system when NASA agreed to use the metric system. *cough cough Lockheed Martin*
@BradleyWhistance7 жыл бұрын
According to my dictionary, its an accurate use of the word. Either way, I knew what he meant. Agreed that the imperial system needs to die. P.S. Also agreed that the difference in how science uses the word theory causes a lot of problems.

@Snubbs7 жыл бұрын
nifty! Does it reduce thrust at all? i would've thought that sticking something on the end of an engine would drop the total amount of thrust it could produce. Or does KSP not model that/model it so well that the thrust actually comes from the four nozzles rather than the centre of the engine?
