If you look at the Singapore site.. The paint is Stealth Grey (included), White $1500 (SGD), Blue $2300 (SGD), Silver and Red $3200 (SGD), 20" Wheels $3000(SGD) So it seems Tesla has bundled all this in and raised the prices in AU. I expect Tesla will sell a heap of these higher spec ones in AU and when sales drop off they will start cutting the prices and making you pay extra for wheels and paint

Hi Joy, The autoshift knows you need to reverse it out of the garage and puts it automatically into reverse when you put your foot on the brake. When you stop on the road after reversing out, it autoshifts back into drive.

What about things like when you're parking in a car park and sometimes you have to do that little forward reverse forward reverse shimmy to line things up properly. Or if you're going into a parking spot, you brake but you havn't quite gone far enough in yet so you tap the accelerator a little expecting to go forward (or reverse) again (perhaps multiple times). Or you're reversing out a longer driveway but the car isn't lined up properly so you have to go forward, back, forward, back just to get the car to be going in the right direction again
@Sensei_Sifu17 күн бұрын
21:28 a little life hack - when you get home ‘always’ reverse park your car into your garage / driveway / carport. Then when you have to leave home the next day you can just get in and relaxingly drive forward onto the road

@Joy for autoshift, it trys to predict, for example, at what stage you are in a three point turn, based on cameras and brake pedal press, to guess what gear you want to be in. My only two complaints of my Model 3 are the no indicator stalk and are no front camera. I got used to the auto shift pretty quick. I think the new Model Y looks great too. Prices are high but very reasonable considering the included extras (paint and wheels) in the launch edition and included acceleration boost in the AWD. Same audio system in both RWD and LR, or we dont know yet?

Hmm so the press release states: "The upgraded Tesla sound system has enhanced the mid-range door speakers, providing more detailed sound and clearer acoustic direction. New Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive is equipped with an upgraded version of Tesla’s industry-leading Premium Audio system, which consists of 16 speakers including a powerful subwoofer" Which tells me they could be differentiating the two cars with different systems given they specifically mentioned that the LR is equiped with the upgraded version ... 🤔

What many people are neglecting in their choice of Tesla or a Chinese brand is the service cost of the Chinese brands, around $4k for the Seal . I also think they will be some rationalisation of the many Chinese brands coming here with insufficient sales to warrant them continuing to stay in Aus. The Chinese cars seem pretty good, but I will wait 'til there's a few more sales of them by others before taking the plunge." Buyer beware". Love the fact that the indicator stalk is back. I would prefer a drive stalk as well. It's not a deal breaker for me, however, cause if the Sexy stalks availability. Tesla supercharging is still the best by far.

Nice to see Joy becoming more involved! Tesla products are a feat of engineering both in terms of software and hardware. However, Musk is now damaging their brand, there's no doubt about it. The people who are asking me what EV to buy overwhelmingly confirm this given their dislike for Musk. I absolutely think Musk is going to increasingly affect Tesla sales in 2025 given his poor behaviour in general. Who knew that removing the indicator stalk in the previous model was a bad move... LOL. I completely agree with Joy than screen-based gear shift is a terrible thing for all of the reasons provided. Good to see they've improved the sunroof heat issue. However, sunroofs here in Australia simply don't make sense, and not just in Tesla vehicles. In terms of styling, I just don't like the back of the Model Y in general... Like the rear video screen and the look from the front. Would I pay an extra $20k than the BYD Seal Premium though, or $15K more than the Xpeng G6 long range, given comparable ranges of all three? I don't think so... And I still think that price and range are key drivers for purchase... Perhaps this is all coming down to who we trust more: Musk or China...
@LudicrousFeed17 күн бұрын
or in the case of Aus Teslas ... Elon AND China 😅😆 But on a serious note you raise some good points. I do like the rear screen option, that would be handy for rear passengers to control the climate. No matter how good any car claims the glass roof is, I will always add a sunshade during summer in Australia - also makes the car slightly more efficient given the AC and seat vents don't have to work as hard
@huntchris17 күн бұрын
@@LudicrousFeed Yeah, I know Aussie Tesla's are Made in China, but I'll bet many purchasers here don't... And with the "Made in America" emphasis of the incoming US administration, it'll be interesting to see what effect that has on where Tesla build their products.

On pricing I'd add that the falling AUD (and NZD) will be having an impact.. maybe we might see a price rise on the 3. But the A$8.5k difference between the 3 and Y us rhe largest weve seen (has been as low as $2k). If you want a Red 20" wheel LR with acceleration boost.. go ahead. If you were looking for a White RWD with 19". Suggest waiting. Also of note the 5.9sec 0-100 time for the RWD might cause a future issue for parents with teenage kids in some states.

You’d have to check the power to weight ratio weight for provisional drivers for each individual state
@moollar16 күн бұрын
@@LudicrousFeedthis will be an issue for us in NSW unless Tesla somehow get an exemption. I thought it was just power to weight ratio, but when I queried BYD as to why the Sealion 6 AWD was not approved for P plate drivers in NSW, they said that cars with under 6 second 0-100km/h are considered "performance" vehicles and are therefore banned for P plate drivers. It's frustrating as the transport NSW site only says "Other vehicles classified as high performance" as a reason for a vehicle to be banned without specifying that means anything under 6 second 0-100km/h.

i really think the rear light bar does not feel integrated with the "c" shaped lights, feels abit forced. I'd rather have just the "c" shaped lights like the new model 3. OR just the light bar by it self, which i think would look amazing because i love the "fading" effect to be continued to the edges and applied to blinkers! As for the front... it's normal, better looking than the old version, but less distinctive.

They could still have basic controls and be minimalistic. I ended up on the BYD Seal Premium. If the BYD can get their act together on the operating system and bring out more regular updates that would be great. I think the Volvo XC30 has a screen gear selector. The sales team in Tesla Perth were a little hard to deal with. Young fanboys trying to sell me the idea the Tesla can go to work for me as un Uber car by itself at night while I slept at night. With more competition Tesla need to stop tell me what I want and start supplying something I want. A little like Apple for so long.
