Theyve said theyre adding the cut line to the rear panel to help with repairability. The Insurance industry complained that they end up writing off vehicles because it previously was a single continuous panel that always gets damaged in a rear end collision so now the write offs will go down.

Ski pass through - that's how I typically use it. I'd love to have a 7-passenger option and a tow hitch so I can put a ski rack on the back. Same for luggage or bike rack. I just looked on the Tesla website and they have an option for "New Model Y" - with deliveries in March. It does offer a tow hitch option and other accessories too - nice. Really want one with 7 seats although I know they will only be useful occasionally and only for kids or smaller adults - and in blue - so I will probably have to wait a while for those options to eventually come along.

@charliethesupebeagle3 сағат бұрын
No. Lots of frameless systems don't rattle.
@ayushmalpeddi279351 минут бұрын
@@charliethesupebeagleyes they often do rattle or at least feel shallow. I've driven/owned so many cars with frameless windows such as a Camaro, E400 coupe, Cayman, 911, VW Beetle, etc. They may not rattle as much as the model Y but they all sound a bit hollow and cheap quality. Maybe a Bentley coupe sounds better but in general frameless doors are really hard/expensive to engineer ones that sound high quality and feel sturdy. Most of them will always sound worse than even a basic 25K Civic or Mazda3
@charliethesupebeagle23 минут бұрын
@ Disagree. Even with previous Teslas, the culprit was not the window. It was a wire that they did not secure. You could just open up the door panel and fix it with a piece of tape/foam. If this new Y has a rattle, it will almost certainly be easily resolved aftermarket for anyone that cares about it. It's not inherent to the frameless design. On my i4, I just fixed a rattle in the door, and it was due to the lock pin. A simple piece of tape to insulate it is all that was required. It has frameless windows but that was irrelevant. Take apart a door and you'll see a gazillion possible rattle sources. Even the clips that hold it in place rattle eventually as the car ages.
@ayushmalpeddi27934 минут бұрын
@ Like I was saying not necessarily will rattle (with age they probably will) but at least they all still feel cheap and hollow and the window inside will sometimes have a shuddering sensations. Even the latest 911 models are okay at best versus something like a cayenne/panemera which sound like a bank vault shutting. Inherently the frameless door design is flawed and costs a lot in R&D to engineer to be as nicer a normal door. Tesla definitely cheaped out even in the higher S/X models.
