Huge difference between the range of the 2WD and AWD variants. That 470km ADR/NEDC range equates to around 400km WLTP, even less than the Solterra, around 415 km WLTP. That difference does not exist to nearly the same extent in the EX30 which shares the same running gear. Why?
@LudicrousFeed4 ай бұрын
Let’s see what the officially quote the WLTP as before we speculate too much. Besides it’s the real world efficiency that we’re interested in rather than numbers on a page. Side note I wouldn’t want to take the Solterra or BZ4X on too many long road trips given both Subaru and Toyota software lock the number of DC cycles that can be utilised per day 🤷♂️

@@LudicrousFeed @Petlaw99 1 second ago As an EV owner who does 40-50,000 km a year I totally agree with the Solterra/BZ4X concern--that is a game-ender for me. Is the example in the video the "top trim" Zeekr X that they are planning to sell for 60-70k AUD? Because if so I do think it is overpriced. Not sure how much time you had with the X in China but the top trim you get over there do have lots of luxury features that might merit such a price premium, but not the one I see in this video. Missing features include: - fully electric charge port cover which is the entire panel, so you don't see that ugly charge port door at all, and in fact would not see a charge door at all - sliding center screen that can act as a passenger entertainment screen - zero G reclining front passenger seat so you can lay almost flat while watching something on the passenger screen - motorized center console which can allow you to move between the front seats when it is at maximum rear position - refrigerator in the back of center console, also removable to act as small portable cooler - fully electric door with no visible handles, and also a small screen on the B-pillar (useless I know, but it would be considered a luxury feature) - 4 seat version where the 2 rear seats are motorized and the seat bottom can fold upwards to create a large rectangular storage space in the back, either for a pet or to store something wide and narrow - nice alcantara sunglass holder in place of the driver grab handle With all those features, the Zeekr X is easily more upmarket compared to its sister car the Volvo EX30, but I don't see any of them on the display car in the video. I've read that some features like the large motorized charge door, absence of physical door handles, and a moving screen are not allowed under EU regulations so cars exported to Europe don't have those features. Maybe that's also the case for Australia? If so, they should not be selling with that prcie premium if many of the premium features are removed.
@LudicrousFeed4 ай бұрын

I realise this was a hurried review. It's good to see Geely entering the Australian market. I have been waiting for a closer look at their offerings and features. I would like to have seen a walkaround in the outside without artificial light. First impressions, I am not fussed on the black top, the front lights, air and bonnet scoops look weird to me atm. The early tesla type layout with no buttons is a bit of a turn off and minimalist. I have seen better interior layouts. Why do you need a bin/storage area under the screen and the wasted space in the "not quite walkover" centre front console. The range of 540km - I want more. I would prefer a bigger LiFePO4 battery. I am looking for something better than the BYD Seal and so far I am not seeing it here. I will wait for a better overall review. Thanks guys.

Far better to get a competitive price on the point of introduction of the model, that way you create a impactful entrance into the market, which is basically free advertising. Free advice from an old guy: New Marque = FAIL. How to avoid failure: - • Build a reliable vehicle. • Your pricing MUST = country of origin price + shipping + exchange rate, not one dollar more. (you have not earned the right to a higher price. Yet). • Provide exceptional after sales service = fix all and any issue, DO NOT attempt to “wriggle out” of your moral obligations, replace the vehicle or refund if needed. • Build a dealership network including regional outlets, regional populations will not buy if there is no dealership. • Learn from history = study Hyundai and Kia's success. Study Infiniti’s failure. Study Genesis imminent failure. • “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom” Proverbs 11:2.

totally messy marketing strat, you've got a full line-up of volvo SUVs with same platform in premium sectors, and a refaced geely-smart SUVs for premium small SUV sector, a premium geely-polestar premium SUV plus a SUV-floored premium sedan, and a geely-zeeker SUV for premium SUV sector, totally overlapped lineup, with a disadvantage of chinese brand, there's no room for wealthy buyers will ever thought to buy this "OG" geely SUV but "rebadged" geely SUVs with non-chinese brand

Yup I have to agree somewhat - seems a bit all over the place currently!

@@LudicrousFeed The thing that has me confused is I thought they would line up the brands Geely(If released here) -> Zeekr -> Volvo -> Polestar. The Polestar 4 has me confused with that as it does not feel like it fits in that scheme as well as the others. The Polestar 4 looks like it will take all the window out of the Polestar 3s sails with the massive price difference the 3 is a premium product which is where I though the brand was heading but it all seems a bit of a mess at the moment.

Pricing bound to crash as more Chinese EVs enter Australian market. Expect early buyers to be burnt severely, not from spontaneous combustion but from depreciation (price cuts) that will be coming in the next year or two.

Buying a used car no matter the brand or powertrain will always save you the initial depreciation

I'm sorry but this is just not it. I'm really excited for Zeekr's emergence in Aus, but delivering this quite ugly model X - with an NMC battery and at such a high price point, is dooming them to failure before they even get started. Disappointing.

We repeatedly asked ZEEKR to bring the 001 to Australia during our China trip 😭

@@LudicrousFeed 001 would have been the move - or even the Golden Battery 007. Shame they've gone this route, but hopefully it doesn't stall their entry into the Aus market.

Disappointing.. both car and review. Given Zeekr flew you both to China I thought you would be more up to speed on the features and differences between the Chinese Australian versions. Wheelsboy reviewed Chinese version over 1 year ago when it was priced US$ 27500-33000 (A$ 41500-50000). I see here less features than Chinese version and 50% more price. Plus poor fitting charge port cover... disappointing.

Thanks for the feedback. This was merely a quick overview given the limited time that we had at the launch. We’ll give a better impression of the car particularly with a real world experience on our roads in Australia as soon as ZEEKR give us a press car loan 🙏

Tom, I must say here that my comments relate just to this presentation. I really enjoyed your China video blog and I find most of your reviews much better than most on the internet.

Thanks! Again, it must be stressed that the purpose of this video was not to be a long detailed comparison with the Chinese version but rather a general overview of the vehicle and brand. Please understand that at these launches we the press/content creators don't get much 'alone' time with the cars tbh hence why I kept stating that you the viewer will get a more detailed walkaround along with my genuine reactions to the driving dynamics in the real world on our Australian roads once a loan vehicle is made available. Appreciate your support of the channel 🙏

@@LudicrousFeed Thank you Let me clarify my comment. Way overpriced for the majority of the emerging EV market. It may not be overpriced for what it is and for all of the technical and mechanical unique selling points, it could be very UNDER priced. It just hits that awkward price point of ‘a lot more than the entry level’ EV’s (around $35-40k).
