Brill. Thanks 👍 My only confusion (small point) was that I paused the vid at 5:30 to study the diagram and because you had ALREADY pencilled in the switch position, the diagram didn’t make sense as the motor would NOT have turned.....it was only afterwards when you ran through the diagram and RUBBED out and amended the switch position that it all made complete sense......thanks again

For small DC motors like the one used in the video what you are saying is totally correct, but for big three phase motors that are used in industrial applications, having a switch connect directly to such a high current circuit could be extremely dangerous, the purpose of the video is to demonstrate the use of relays for controlling big motors

I enjoyed your video and it got me thinking of a project I would like to do, but need a little help on what I need to accomplish it? I am trying to modify a winch from a hand held remote to a wireless remote. I have a two channel wireless receiver(Two positives and two negatives) but I am a little confused on what type of relay I need to be able to run and reverse the direction of the winch. Do I need: SPDT, DPDT? Do I need a 5 pin, 6 pin, or 8 pin relay? I plan on running it directly from an outlet so I know I the relay will have to be rated for 110 volts. If anyone can help me understand what I need and how to do it, I would be very greatful.

To Forward and Reverse a DC motor no need any circuit really, you can use a 3 position 6 pin slide switch. First 2 pins connect power,(No. 1+ and No.2-) then the 2 pins in the middle connect the 2 phase of the motor, and the last 2 pins(No.5 and No.6) connect the power from first 2 pins reversely by a small wire, 1+ connect to No.6 and No.2- connect to No.5. and done...

love your video. really useful. Can you help how can I add 2 Limit Switch to change the polarity?
@ecospider54 жыл бұрын
When the diagram is first shown the coil on the left was drawn activated at the bottom but not activated at the top. Which was wrong and confusing because you never showed neither coil connected. Which would have been drawn with the line at the bottom erased. So the drawing should have started with no line at the bottom showing no coil activated and the top as it was with both in the negative position. Then you draw the line at the bottom to the left and the video would be correct where you switch the left relay to positive.
@mrz63205 жыл бұрын
how to speed up the motor with that relay?
@ecospider54 жыл бұрын
That type of motor is constant speed based on battery voltage. Normally you would not use a relay to change speed but technically you could have 2 12v batteries that are switched from parallel (12v) to series (24v) which would double the speed.

Right way easier for manual control but you can use this set up with a cheap toy grade rc receiver and controller to remotely control much larger motors than the super cheap toy grade circuits could handle. That's how I am building a large rover from a small gokart frame 6 12v 14am wheelchair motors combined weight limitations around 2150lbs with a mover deck to remotely cut my grass and also to use some salvaged windshield wiper motors I made into linear actuators welding some all thread to them to build dump still bucket on it and 2 arms to pick up branches and other debris from out of it's way. I have a limb trimmer I'm thinking of using same set up to trim up trees from it as well. I sit inside and use it I just used a busted drone fpv camera and 4.3in fpv monitor. Steers like a tank does. Need 3 more busted drones for 360 vision lpl
