The beauty of this music points to the higher beauty of Jesus Christ, who died on the Cross for vile sinners, and on the 3rd day he rose from the grave, defeating sin, death and the devil ! "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of us. But we were washed, we were sanctified, we were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." (1 Cor .9-11) "To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood" (Rev 1.5)

I always think lyrics are necessary if it is to be called a 'song'. In my view, songs are sung. If there are no lyrics then it is a tune or an instrumental.

This song is a true masterpiece. To me, it tells the story of two young strangers who bumped into each other, started talking, became friends, fell in love. However, circumstances changed, and one of them had to move away. The relationship became long distance, and although things were okay at first, eventually it grew thin. They decided it was best to move on and focus on their lives independently. Years later, they coincidentally bumped into each other in the same place where they first met. They share the years that passed and of their careers and their own family.

There's is nothing pretentious about this. One of the world's greatest minimalist composers playing to a small audience in a humble place..That alone makes it beautiful, but when you add the composition itself and how well it's executed and how well it pairs with the environment, it's like a fine wine paired perfect for dinner. it's just breathtaking. We live in a dark world without much beauty really being produced from humanity. It makes me tear up every time I really stop and pay attention to what Einaudi is doing, because it's so much more than what it's trying to be. I have a few friends who frown on Einaudi's work and they say "It's ok, but I just don't get it" and then go back to listening to Debussy. It's as if the composition complexity isn't there they can't be moved. I feel sad for them, it's as if their ears and hearts can't hear these pieces as a whole and all the magic that's going n in the empty space. It's as if they are color blind to the the beauty in the simplicity of it and don't understand the genius of it. I do think lesser of them for it. Maybe it's wrong of me, but I think if all they can appreciate is the mechanical aspects of composition. Then they have been robbed of it's beauty altogether. Let everyone take from music what they will, but as they bask in their pretension they miss the entire point which devalues music altogether. But I will admit I am biased.

starchildstrider It sounds like you are a fellow musician. When I was younger I was attracted to the complexity of the composition. In my late 30s I've gotten to a point with my listening and writing that it's all about finding or creating an emotional connection. To me it takes a true master to get rid of as much complexity as possible but find that sweet spot where the listener stays with you though each iteration. I don't think there is any better than Einaudi when it comes to the minimalist form. I agree with you about people not being able to "grasp it". I have a good friend who has been studying the piano for years. He loves Debussy and has mastered a few of his pieces, but he disregards Einaudi. I believe it's because he's only listening for the mechanics. After a few plays of I Giorni he stopped me and he said "To me it's just simple and repetitive.I'm glad you like it". While I respect and like Debussy, his work has never connected with me in the same way. In regard to my friend, It's kind of sad. I feel like there's a spectrum of sound he's just not able to hear... This conversation reminds me of Benjamin Zander's TED talk. If you haven't heard that I recommend it. Thanks for sharing starchildstrider, It's nice to hear from a kindred spirit.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad The beauty of this music points to the higher beauty of Jesus Christ! Are you a good person? Are you 100% sure you will go to heaven when you die? Or would you go to hell? Christianity is filled with bad news and good. Masturbation is wrong. Heterosexual Sex before marriage is wrong is also wrong. If you have committed fornication, then you’re guilty of breaking GOD’s Law, and you deserve conscious hell fire forever. But GOD loves you and sent his sinless Son to be tortured, and die on the Cross, taking the punishment for sinners. 3 days later, Jesus rose from the Grave. You MUST turn from your sins (stop sinning), and obey Jesus, and love him with all your soul, heart, mind and strength. If you became a Christian, you will receive 1. forgiveness of sins, your sins and guilt will be blotted out, 2. GOD himself will dwell inside you, 3. God will remove your heart of stone and give you a new heart and a new spirit. 3. your name will be written in the Lambs book of Life, 4. you will enter the new Earth, 5. and you will see GOD's face. Otherwise you will be judged guilty, and tortured forever. This is true, whether you believe it or not. Your blood be on your own head. You’ve been lovingly warned. Now you have no excuse for your sin.

Has anyone else noticed how subtle and understated the whole video. The music is beautiful and passive, the lighting perfectly pitched, and Einaudi's hands just glide over the keyboard in a ripple of tireless movement - no pretentious flicks or self-absorbed facial expressions. Just a composer, and his music in perfect harmony.

I’ve been playing ludovico’s music since I discovered him at 14 or 15 years old. I played this song (along with oltremare) at my very last piano recital. It was the only recital my father didn’t attend, as he had passed a few months before. It was incredibly difficult but I felt the music pouring from my heart and everything else faded away. I could just feel my dad was there that day, he loved hearing me play (even when I was 5 years old playing Yankee Doodle over and over :p). Ludovico’s music has gotten me through rough years and allowed me to express my emotions when I couldn’t put them to words and he’s forever my hero for giving me such a gift

Einaudi is like cocaine...people love it and always seem to want more of it, but at the end of the day it's boring, overrated and uninspiring. In more specific terms, he exhibits zero creativity in his writing, sticking to arpeggiated poppy chord sequences and so-saccharine-your-teeth-will-fall-out melodies, and it personally doesn't do anything for me. I can't tell any of his pieces apart, and when something comes on the radio I just know it's by him and that I don't like it. He's like a bad Michael Nyman, if that were possible.

I played this piece for my A Level assessment. I am very grateful my teacher recommended me this beauty of song. She gave me the choice to switch to another piece if I wanted to, but I said this one was the one I wanted to play. The reason I did this was because I was trying to cope with my dog's death (maybe you may say it's ridiculous but he meant a lot to me, we've been together for 7 years, since I was 12). Every time I play this song, it makes me remember him and I know he is up there, watching me from heaven. 😔😢

I Giorni is not just a song, it is a wonderful piece of art. There is people who play this piece, and then there's people who actually PLAY the song. It absorbs so much emotion from me when I play it, and I just become completely unaware of my surroundings as my hands glide across the piano. I actually change the way I play it depending on my feelings, and I absolutely love it....definitely one of my favourite pieces of art ever brought onto this planet!!

This rips me into shreds, it reignites a memory i suppressed, feelings i forgot, a love long lost, the first love, the pain of parting, the pain of thousand things unsaid, and years of becoming apathetic to suppress that loss, this ignites that melancholy, that heaviness of the heart , it makes me feel alive again, that pain makes me feel alive, it reminds me of precious memories and my sins, it reminds me of the love i was capable of, it reminds me that i am human

A girlfriend of mine, who I met online playing a video game 12 years ago strangely enough, introduced to me this composer. We are still friends today but she is dying of cancer. She doesnt have long left, she is only 35. She plays the piano, has had a very hard life, and I grew up in a broken home on a council estate, but compared what she had growing up, Im a prince! Anyways, I admire her she is so talented and intelligent and just ... a decent girl. A rock! So I am her rock, now. We are each others ROCK. Anyways, I played this at my Dads funeral. He didnt know it, he was into the classics as he was very old. But I figured he'd like this, and it reminds me of him. My life right now is falling apart and not in a dramatic way. My life, has recently, fallen to pieces and there is getting back where I was. But if my Dad was here, although even he couldn't fix me, he'd have something to say to make me feel better, to put a bigger picture to me and help, as he always used to. Make me focus on something else, cos what good did thinking of yourself ever do anyone? So ... on we go. "Do the best you can!" he would say. The most simple lines, that always lead you to something good and right. Lovely piano piece, this. Doesnt even make me sad. Or maybe Im sad all the time? Who knows! On we go.

Quello che mi chiedo é perché un Artista (la a maiuscola non é a caso), nonché maestro, é poco commentato da noi italiani. When I close my eyes, I see these ..things. Dancing and curling in front of me. Colors playing with my mind and emotions beating on my skin. I am drifting in space. Wild, but peaceful Planets rush past. Joy and peace overcomes me. Nothing stays, but nothing leaves. Nothing makes sense, but everything is true. A whole new universe in my mind. Then I open my eyes and feel happy. Music is not entertainment, not art, not emotion. It is simply music. Incomprehensible, unsearchable. No word can truly describe music. Music is the other dimension in our head.

Brenda Einaudi is like cocaine...people love it and always seem to want more of it, but at the end of the day it's boring, overrated and uninspiring.

In my mind there is a story, a story about a girl who had lost almost everything, everything down to the very last penny she had in her pocket. One day, a man, talked to her. Then no later they fell in love, with deep emotions, she felt like she had everything. Even if she doesn't have a home, or a car or even nice clothes. He loved her for her inner beauty, a beauty that only he could see. She loved him truly till the day she died. When she did die, all of her beauty never vanished. Today we know this beauty not simply by your wife or husbands eyes, or the beauty in your backyard. Its the beauty that we all hold within our hearts, and that is what makes us BEAUTIFUL...

lame story.. i see something about a fisherman winning a game of poker and then spending the money to buy his neighbour a pony... it is a talking pony and his name is tony... tony the pony.. the pony however is very deceitful and ends up embezzling money out of the community building fund the fisherman and his neighbour set up to help the town's people carry out repairs on their homes after storms... the pony is caught and sent to prison but they don't allow pony's in prison so he has to go live with an estranged anteater on an island in the indian ocean... meanwhile the fisherman opens the pony's post and realises the pony was diverting them money to help his mother recover from a leg injury she suffered while labouring for a cruel master... the fisherman summons the pony back from the island, along with the anteater and then uses the rest of the community money to buy the pony's mother.. they all live happily ever after.. the end

"Airtel - Endless goodbyes." I first heard this piece (I giorni) many years ago in Airtel ad. It was such a emotional ad and this piece made it so much more memorable. I didnt have internet at that time so i couldn't google this song. But i used to keep humming this tune even after the ad went off air. After a few years of getting internet, i started searching Airtel ad to find that song but i didnt know the right keyword to type, so i didnt find it to my frustration. But after some years i randomly stumbled on it while listening to classical radio app. So this piece will always be close to my heart because of so much nostalgia attached to it. I don't know why but all the TV ads during my school days had really soulful music and I am very proud of having a strong musical memory when it comes to the music pieces I hear. If I heard something that moved me, rest assured I would remember the tune even years after they have taken off the ad. I really miss those days of beautiful innocent ads.

This man made me go out buy a piano and play it everyday since, only been about 18 months and I have no where near the talent of this man, but I wanted to play and feel his music so badly I just kept going, slowly making less and less mistakes, before long it felt natural, I knew the notes without having to think, my forearms and fingers no longer ached, and I could close my eyes and just play whatever sounded and felt right at the time. I think for most of us the enjoyment and emotions felt just playing to ourselves is all we need, after all that's why most of us started playing,

This tune reminds me of my childhood days when I was in 7 standard.. Airtel ( cell phone company ) used a part from this in it’s advertising ...this tune stuck my mind and now after soo many years I found this 💗

I was on a concert in Prague one week ago... I must say, that I never heard anything such beautiful... Your music has the athmosphere, it lets my soul fly... Please maestro Einaudi, come to Prague more often - we were amazed, all people in the huge Congress center in Prague... Let me feel such incredible feelings at least once more in my life! Thank you

Dovrebbe essere intitolata "I Brividi" per quanto è bella. Grazie per questa magnifica musica Ludovico!

what i love about this piece is it always involks a sense of nostalgia in me. Thoughts about places i've been, people i've been with, and nothing extravagant....just memories about times around a table enjoying a good meal with people I'm close to, or sitting on a beach with my friends. For me, it's a song of just remembering all those wonderfull little moments that makes life good.

The unique stop pause and start, is all I hear so unique it's as if he delivers a message and gives you the moment to reflect what beauty he just produced it's a feeling inside like an understanding without any need for words! Magical, enchanting! I'm hooked!

I heard this on a BBC advert a few years back and was struck by its beauty, then couldn't find it for years and thought I'd never hear it again. Then last year in York through a crowd I heard the sound of a piano busker playing it. Was so happy to come across it and finally learn what it was called. I know very little about the technical side of music, but even the layman knows when something touches his soul.

I also heard it first in that ad. Unfortunately I don't have a cool story about rediscovering it. I think I just used shazam when the ad came on once.

this man is a gift to the world from god. he was born for this purpose in the same way hendrix is to a guitar, jordan is to a basketball court and so on. he is the best.

❤ My then 2 year old son and I would listen to this every morning while having a calm breakfast, this is our song. This week we will listen to your music in our homeschool. Just wanted you to know that you have been part of the best years of our lives.

This man is my absolute idol. His music has continued to inspire my piano for so many years. I listen to i Giorni and Nuvole Bianche everyday, Islands CD was the best and most worthwhile purchase I have ever made in my life. I am absolutely in love with this man's music. This is in my opinion, heaven.
