So stoked the Speed King is getting a second chance at life. As a huge drum nerd I've always wanted one for collecting purposes but now having the chance to own one that I won't second guess playing is absolutely phenomenal. Nice work Ludwig 👍

I'm interested in the improved bass drum lift on the Breakbeats kits. Mine crapped out a couple of years ago.

It would be cool to see a modern version beater for the newer pedals. Keep that old looking beater for the speed king pedal. In my opinion !!

Did they discontinued the Ludwig black beauty snare drum? Yes or no? And why?

At 4:07 in Mike says that Ludwig drums are better made drums then they were in the 60's. For a couple of reasons I can't agree with all of that statement. The bearing edges, Yes would be better because of new computerized cutting machines, I agree with that. But in the 1960's the wood was plentiful and was not as costly, Taking into consideration the decades of time that has gone by, Wood was just more plentiful because of the ecology, The biggest thing is the metal. If you hold a 1960's Ludwig Lug in your hand, And hold a current one, There is a world of difference in metal quality and weight. This is because after the 1970's the metal foundries where pounced upon by the the E P A. Metal after the mid to late 70's was processed by a different means then smelting because of the impurities the metal left behind, Todays metal because of the E P A is very different, Find and old Ludwig lug and get yourself a new one and you will see and feel the difference. Also in the past 6 decades Ludwig like many companies have undergone the change where the owners are not musicians just business man. The bottom line was always important in any business but in todays world its to the 10th power.

I cant understand why they can't mention RINGO OR BEATLES ?? They're single handledy responsible for putting Ludwig where they are today in terms of sales. Maybe those at the Beatles management $$ machine camp are strict when mentioning anything to do with selling Beatles or promoting their surviving or deceased memebers. I think it's stupid. We all know who they're mentioning when speaking in "code" and carefully ommiting their names or name of the band. What makes even less sense is the fact that Ringo is still promoting and is very visible at Ludwig, as he is considered Ludwig "royalty..Makes no sense to me😑😑

Makes no sense to do away with Atlas hardware. All my hardware is Atlas pro and it works great.
@mikekelly76795 жыл бұрын
Yea I like my Atlas hardware, saves space in utility case, on floor around set and quicker set up/tear down. One thing though one out of the three Atlas cymbal stands broke in less than a year.
@MyDyerMaker5 жыл бұрын
@@mikekelly7679 That sucks. I hope mine last, but I only gig about once a month. Josh something is the engineer who designed a lot of the new atlas stuff. He has his own drum company called Inde. He's out of Michigan.
@mikekelly76795 жыл бұрын
@@MyDyerMaker Good to know, I will check him out. I missed playing Ludwigs so I wanted to go back and the Atlas system helped me hurry up to do it. Thought it was American made and would last. Ludwig the great American Icon.
@MyDyerMaker5 жыл бұрын
@@mikekelly7679 I was never a Ludwig fan until about 5 years ago when I played a Ludwig kit. They have their own sound that hooked me. On the hardware- I don't think any hardware is made in the USA with the exception of 9000 series DW hardware. I think it's too hard/expensive to chrome plate anything on a large scale in the US.
@mikekelly76795 жыл бұрын
@@MyDyerMaker My first 3 sets were Ludwig then I bought a Premier then a PDP then a C&C then back to a Ludwig Classic Maple. Love my classic maples, just disappointed with that stand breaking. The first set was a 1957 Ludwig with the Blue/Silver Duco, even had a calf head on bass drum. I was 15 and didn't know better, sold it to a cousin.

I find it funny ... the Oak Classic is basically the Keystone-X, right? They won't say it though....
@MyDyerMaker5 жыл бұрын
Yes, but with more options. A guy at Forks told me they were changing the name to Classic Oak late last year. Makes sense seeing as how their biggest seller is Classic Maple. Now you can get large lugs and blue/olive badges and any wrap you want on the CO's.

@@MyDyerMaker ...my comment was based on looking at this from a shell perspective. I think the options they added to customize kits is a great touch
