I know buying shirts in Japan for western people usually means buying 1 size larger, because Japanese sizes are smaller. So if they are L in the west, XL is the right size.

Both ludgwig and me have pectus excavatum, meaning our sternums are sunken in a little bit. You'd be amazed at how easily we are able to look pregnant with this only slightly misshappen rib cage. I've come to find that people are constantly telling me that I gained weight simply when I sit a little hunched over, especially becauses I live in Japan and they love pointing out when people seemly gained weight. Even when I am/was very skinny lol. Basically, if everything doesnt fit into the rib cage, you get a potbelly look extremely easily and your posture becomes the number one way to conceal it. But even if someone with pectus excavatum is in top-notch shape, it would be easy to look pregrnant if it meant a good youtube joke xD Ludwigs strength relies in his ability to prioritize jokes for his viewers.

Japanese size XL is effectively an American Medium/Large size tho. I'm a Tiny American guy (120 lbs, 5ft 8in) and I don't fit into Japanese Medium size. No way in hell an American at "Normal" weight (160lbs+) is fitting into a Japanese L size comfortably. If that's racist to you, Japan might not be your fit (Pun entirely accidental)
