I think it's also important to note that when African instruments are used for his theme, they are used sparingly. It's to hint at how he has roots in Wakanda, but how he identifies more with his African American identity (the majority of the song is trap/hip hop influenced, African American genres). The sadness, isolation, and loneliness of the music, at first...noticeably not Western. Then!!! the sudden heartbreak grief rage. The flutes howl like hyenas in anger and loss. The son of a War Dog screams. ......then hip-hop...the "urban".....take over the non-Western and everything is filled with steady Determination. Quiet purpose. Then there is a polished hip-hop swagger embellishing the single-minded purpose. But, underneath is the non-Western music....still broken and grieving...still lost and lonely. (This theme is absolute perfection and captures the essence of Eric's character so well. It's superbly well-done and it gives me chills to this day.)

@@TheHumanBallsack What's sad is that having a black cast and an African story that treats Africans with respect is enough to be considered worthy of praise. I'm not saying that Black Panther shouldn't be praised for what it's done, I'm saying it's downright disheartening that it took so long for such a film to be released. In an ideal world Black Panther wouldn't receive the love that it does now, but this is not an ideal world and as such I will praise a movie that is pretty much just decent for actually giving me the representation I always wanted.

Edwinson, you do know that healing factors in marvel comics stem from the brain right?its not as potent as wolverines or hulks, or deadpool's(cannot regenerate limbs). But if the heart is destroyed you don't immediately die, the brain still functions until it runs out of O2 which the blood carries to it. And even if the screen writers don't know or they forgot there is still the chance with the soul stone resurrecting dead antagonists after infinity war.

This theme perfectly reflects Killmonger's upbringing. Innocent and peaceful, then is shocking and filled with trauma. He turns his focus to wakanda, and learns about them. There's there's this method pulsing heartbeat that just comes to a boil and explodes. It's still has its african undertones. There's quietness in the middle, a metaphor for how he's still a child on the inside, but the only way this track could end is more rage!

Not surprised at how well the two styles of music blend here (the African, and African American) since they are two sides to the same coin. 400 + years of separation from your home can't take away what's embedded in your soul my American brethren.

Trill Figga Actually, I was born in Africa, but what about the millions in the diaspora? Are you going to tell me that never happened? I do know a little about the Seminoles, but to say that ALL Black Americans were natives is a bit of a stretch. We are the original man, so we technically are natives of every continent on the planet, but not all of us were natives of America.

You finally started to look at the world in how it is instead of how you wish it to be? T'Challa: The world is in terrible danger. A force from afar seeks to destroy the people. Kilmonger: Their people. T'Challa: All people. Kilmonger: ... And what I do call this fool? T'Challa: Thanos. Kilmonger: ... Get me out of these chains. And I'll do the rest.
