@aspzx3 жыл бұрын
I found watching people who play more at an amateur level more interesting to watch because I can actually follow what's going on. Pogchamps earlier this year was great for that.
@the_bottomfragger3 жыл бұрын
@@aspzx Absolutely. I think there's just a certain gap between your own level and the one you're watching where it becomes less enjoyable. Matto would probably be slightly worse than me but that's still cool. Watching Super-GMs battle it out in classical time format with ridiculous deep engine lines doesn't do much for me.

0:44 knight to b5, then the pawn on 7b takes it, you move your bishop on f1 to b5 to take the pawn and the king is in check
@_Cujo_3 жыл бұрын
6:40 Pawn e7 was a great trade for you. He can't take back with his king, so you just get a knight for a pawn and your rook is still on the back row threatening all his other pawns, while also threatening his bishop. You also develop your second rook into a much better spot, and link the rooks up with each other, meaning they are much more powerful.

I always find it fascinating when chat is visible while someone plays chess on stream, because the absolute CONFIDENCE a lot of people in chat have about how amazing a move they're proposing is, while it's complete garbage, is mind-boggling. Like at 3:05, the people proposing bE5, either thinking it's mate or it's winning. I get not everyone is gonna be a chess enthusiast, but I'd like everyone to be able to count. There's a pawn and a queen protecting the bishop if it goes there, versus a knight, queen and king attacking it. 3vs2. Basically, on bE5, you'd lose material, flat out. And that's without expanding on someone thinking that it's mate in one, meaning they somehow missed both the queen AND knight protecting that square. It's okay not to see/know all that, but maybe those who don't are the people who should, well, calm down with the backseat playing.

Note to the editor from an editor: 1. Adding effects to matt's zoomed face is funny when you do it three or four times, more than that makes it boring or less effective. 2.Props to you for adding arrows for the moves that matt tells. Im guessing Matt didn't edit this video(experience from watching matt's video for 1.5 years). The one who edited this video did a good job. Just one flaw. With a little more experience he will do good. If i guessed it wrong, i am sorry matt.

I love chess but I hate when, in any game, then people use predetermined plays. I may be put at a disadvantage deliberately not using them but to me it’s so annoying to watch people be like “oh I see you’re using Einstein’s theory of Castleivity let me counter with Banach-Tarski’s paradox of pawn baiting”. Like fuck you just play the game, not following somebody else’s match move by move. And I know castling and others is part of the game but I’m talking about using someone else’s previous strategy of a single game to dictate their entire moveset
@TheRealJRGT043 жыл бұрын
And for anyone who likes to respond and make me feel stupid just know that I’m not sure if that’s exactly how it goes majority of the time, but I’ve seen many times that people do stuff like that and not just in chess but other games
@StanbyMode3 жыл бұрын
Im not entirely sure what you mean, can you give an example?
@TheRealJRGT043 жыл бұрын
@@StanbyMode here’s exactly what I’m talking about. It’s like when people on cod say that they follow “The Meta” (I fucking hate that bullshit) because you know they are too shit to play the game how they want and have to use the same 3 best guns in the game that the other 40% of the player base uses. The same thing goes with almost anything else, that’s what I meant I wasn’t necessarily talking about chess as I was making a general statement about people should find success being an individual rather than being an annoying follower that ruins the game for regular people
