A wonderful interpretation with a perfectly balanced choice of tempi and a particular quality of touch. In the slow movement the pianist manages both to maintain tension and to convey tranquility at the same time. The interpretation of the first movement reflects outstandingly a certain wildness and rhythmic intensity typically associated with Beethoven while in the fourth movement the pianist introduces an intriguingly warm, rich and mellow sound sometimes reminding of Schubert. Definitely one of the best recordings of this sonata available on the net!
